The Principal AI Architect sets enterprise AI architecture direction across Aetna Technology. Responsibilities include defining model-serving, orchestration, retrieval, evaluation, and agentic-system patterns; establishing responsible AI guardrails for sensitive data; creating automated standards and paved-road development practices; measuring AI ROI and cost; evaluating emerging models and tooling; and influencing architects, engineers, leaders, vendors, and platform teams without direct authority.

Owns enterprise data architecture across Aetna Technology’s multicloud, multivendor environment. Defines reference architectures, data mesh operating models, systems of record, pipeline standards, governance controls, lineage, quality, PHI protections, and zero-trust access patterns. Enables AI and analytics through semantic layers, feature readiness, retrieval, and data contracts. Provides architecture governance, evaluates platforms, influences senior leaders and vendors, and coaches architects and engineers without direct reporting authority.

Design and implement scalable software solutions for CVS Health Digital’s next-generation health platform. Lead technical design, architecture, coding, code reviews, performance optimization, cloud initiatives, microservices, APIs, CI/CD automation, and complex issue resolution. Create proofs of concept, provide expert technical support and root-cause analysis, collaborate across teams, adopt emerging technologies, and mentor junior developers. The role also contributes to Agentic AI and Generative AI initiatives.

Design, build, and operate large-scale observability services and telemetry pipelines using Go, Python, and Java. Lead enterprise adoption of OpenTelemetry, implement monitoring/SLOs, automate platform operations, participate in on-call rotations, and collaborate with SRE, Cloud, and security teams to ensure reliable, secure, and cost-efficient observability at scale.

Lead design, build, and operate a scalable observability platform for logs, metrics, and traces across cloud and datacenters. Drive OpenTelemetry adoption, architect high-throughput telemetry pipelines, implement SLOs and platform health checks, automate operations, participate in on-call rotations, and provide technical leadership and mentorship across engineering teams.
