Leads Fastly’s Platform Security organization, defining multi-year technical strategy and roadmaps for foundational infrastructure, secrets, identity, PKI, and trust services. Manages engineering teams and principal-level contributors, drives reliability and security best practices across the organization, establishes metrics and accountability, and communicates strategy and risk to executives. Requires deep experience with distributed systems, infrastructure as code, Linux, cloud and on-premises environments, and security technologies. Coding is not expected, but strong technical expertise is essential.

Leads Fastly’s global public relations and communications strategy, including regional PR execution, media relations, reputation and crisis communications, customer and product storytelling, executive communications, internal communications, agency management, performance measurement, and development of a distributed global team.

Integrate Fastly’s edge delivery and compute platform into customer systems, design and build solutions using VCL, Go, Rust, or JavaScript, and provide configuration, optimization, troubleshooting, and performance guidance. Develop proof-of-concepts with Sales Engineers, create and deliver training, mentor team members, and serve as a subject matter expert. The role requires expertise in CDN, WAF, HTTP, networking protocols, web application implementation, customer-facing consulting, and project delivery.

Lead the design, implementation, maintenance, security, and performance of enterprise information systems. Administer SaaS and AI platforms, including identity integration, access controls, licensing, and data governance. Build AI-assisted IT automations, troubleshoot critical issues, mentor engineers, research technologies, document systems, and collaborate with Security, Legal, and cross-functional teams to align technology with business objectives.

Build advanced threat detections across cloud, container, corporate, and edge environments; lead complex security investigations, threat hunts, and incident response; develop AI agents and automations for detection and triage; manage EDR, SOAR, and SIEM tools; analyze telemetry and forensic artifacts; and participate in on-call rotations.

Own Fastly’s brand strategy execution, governance, consistency, and measurement across marketing channels. Develop program plans, creative briefs, enablement systems, and integrated campaigns while managing agencies, vendors, budgets, and brand research. Collaborate with product, field, campaign, digital, PR, content, sales, and executive teams to strengthen brand positioning and thought leadership. Explore AI tools for audience research, competitive analysis, and creative development.

Serve as the internal Workday functional SME, leading HR technology projects, configuration, optimization, testing, reporting, data integrations, support, release readiness, and compliance activities. Partner with People teams and stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable solutions, manage enhancements, maintain documentation, and contribute to the People Systems roadmap.

Owns Linux kernel engineering for Fastly’s global edge network, including kernel development, networking, XDP/eBPF, hardware enablement, performance, debugging, upstreaming, and fleet-scale production operations. The role leads technical projects, manages kernel releases and staged rollouts, resolves production incidents, improves observability and reliability, collaborates across teams, and mentors engineers while participating in on-call rotation.

Designs and implements scalable trust and identity infrastructure, including secrets management, PKI, authentication, and access control services. The role defines architecture, leads technically complex initiatives, improves engineering standards and reliability, and partners across Product, Security, Compliance, and Engineering. It requires strong systems engineering experience with Linux, networking, distributed systems, modern programming languages, and infrastructure tooling. Occasional on-call nights and weekends may be required.

Provides Tier I technical support for Fastly’s edge cloud platform. Responsibilities include troubleshooting VCL, caching, HTTP, TLS, DNS, APIs, control panel configurations, and Compute applications; managing and escalating customer issues; monitoring network events; guiding customers through technical solutions; documenting findings; and participating in occasional on-call coverage. The role requires strong networking knowledge, written communication, scripting ability, customer support experience, and familiarity with diagnostic tools.
