Designs and implements behavior-planning algorithms for autonomous vehicles operating in structured airport environments. Responsibilities include developing C++ and Python software, modeling multi-agent interactions, implementing decision-making and path-planning methods, testing in simulation and real-world scenarios, optimizing performance, documenting systems, and collaborating with autonomy and engineering teams.

Lead verification and validation for safety-critical autonomous ground support vehicles across simulation, closed-course, and live airport environments. Develop test plans, execute manual and automated testing, analyze sensor and diagnostic data, investigate failures, validate fixes, and support release readiness. Build automation and reporting tools, maintain regression tracking, collaborate with autonomy and hardware teams, and mentor engineers in test-driven development.

Own end-to-end delivery of AeroVect’s flagship Atlanta Airport autonomous vehicle program from planning through launch and steady-state operations. Drive schedules, milestones, risks, dependencies, governance, stakeholder alignment, and launch readiness across Engineering, Systems, Safety, and Operations. Serve as the primary liaison between engineering and operations leadership, while helping establish TPM processes, tooling, templates, and cross-program standards.

Performs software and system safety analyses for autonomous vehicle platforms, including HARA, FMEA, FTA, STPA, freedom-from-interference, and code-level hazard evaluations. Derives and traces safety requirements, defines fail-safe mechanisms, reviews safety-critical C++ and Python code, supports safety-case development, and collaborates with robotics, hardware, systems, software, and test teams to verify compliance and enable airport deployment.

Lead design, analysis, and verification/validation of autonomous vehicle subsystems. Develop data pipelines for V&V, author and maintain requirements and architecture artifacts, define safety behaviors, track KPIs, surface risks, collaborate cross-functionally, mentor junior engineers, and support deployments. Up to 25% travel.

Design, build, and maintain cloud-based data pipelines and infrastructure on AWS, integrating on-prem and cloud flows. Implement IaC, CI/CD, containerization, observability, and automation to ensure high-throughput, reliable data ingestion and processing for autonomous systems.

Lead system safety engineering for autonomous ground vehicles: perform hazard analyses (HARA, FMEA, FTA, STPA), FMEDA and PMHF, calculate failure rates per industry standards, derive and trace functional and hardware safety requirements for supervised and driverless operation, evaluate sensors and drive-by-wire architectures, and support safety case evidence for airport deployment.
