Supports Rocket Lab’s State and Local Government Operations team by learning internal priorities, government strategy processes, and cross-functional collaboration. The intern works with mentors and department professionals, contributes to development projects, attends progress meetings and professional events, and applies business, policy, or industry concepts to real challenges. This is a full-time, on-site internship lasting at least 12 consecutive weeks.

Performs trajectory simulation, orbital and suborbital analysis, flight safety assessments, Monte Carlo studies, mission formulation, and day-of-launch support. Develops modeling tools, safety rules, and automated analysis processes; supports hardware-in-the-loop testing and AFTS readiness verification. Collaborates with customers, external agencies, engineering and operations teams on mission requirements, launch concepts, proposals, and classified missions.

Supports AIT teams and collaborates with engineering and program teams across multiple global locations.

Leads software architecture, development, testing, integration, and delivery for mission-critical spacecraft flight and ground systems. Designs embedded flight software, hardware drivers, RTOS applications, and web-based ground platforms; supports hardware-in-the-loop validation and on-orbit operations. Provides technical leadership, mentorship, and stakeholder guidance for a major constellation program. Requires extensive aerospace or defense software experience, embedded systems expertise, C/C++, Python, hardware integration, RF communications, U.S. citizenship, and an active TS/SCI clearance.

Serves as the technical interface between space software customers and Rocket Lab’s engineering, business development, finance, and executive teams. Responsibilities include customer technical support, interactive product demonstrations, proposal development, business development, market and demand forecasting, pricing and cost analysis, product documentation, marketing support, and roadmap input. The role also leads customer-facing activities at conferences and customer locations and requires aerospace engineering experience.
