Leads commercial surety underwriting for the Southwest region, overseeing risk selection, pricing, retention, growth, profitability, and compliance. Reviews underwriting decisions, evaluates financial and credit information, manages stakeholder relationships, supports timely business decisions, and coaches team members. The role requires a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, 9+ years of related experience, and at least 4 years of management experience. It involves in-office work and travel within the assigned territory.

Investigates and evaluates workers’ compensation and commercial auto subrogation claims, develops recovery strategies, gathers evidence, negotiates settlements, and manages complex matters across multiple jurisdictions. Partners with adjusters, attorneys, experts, insureds, and other stakeholders while protecting recovery rights, monitoring legal deadlines, attending proceedings, and providing recovery recommendations to leadership.

Owns an Agile delivery team’s product backlog for an underwriting modernization initiative. Partners with business and technology stakeholders to define features and user stories, prioritize work, support roadmap execution, lead Agile ceremonies, resolve risks and dependencies, and deliver measurable business value. Builds stakeholder trust, facilitates alignment, communicates priorities and outcomes, and develops product leadership capabilities. Insurance, financial services, technology, operations, or business analysis experience is preferred.
