Trying to beat the seemingly endless winter blues might be a drag, but finding a new role in the Centennial State’s booming tech scene shouldn’t have to be. All across Colorado, tech teams are on the search for new talent and new ways to smash their 2022 goals.

That’s why Built In Colorado took a closer look at three companies standing out this month to showcase who they are, what’s catching the industry’s attention and the supportive company cultures keeping their employees uplifted throughout the snow-capped season. These growing organizations — including a sustainable logistics company striving for zero-emission systems, an energy organization making the oil industry more efficient, and a healthtech nonprofit changing the global health ecosystem — all have something unique to offer.

What they do: Outrider is a logistics company focused on automating yard operations for logistics hubs, helping large enterprises improve safety and increasing efficiency. The company’s mission is to drive the rapid adoption of sustainable freight transportation by deploying zero-emission systems.

Making future impact, today: Employees aren’t just buzzing about delivering a system that solves real problems. “I’m excited to help Outrider rewrite the environmental outcome of the movement of goods,” Derek Leslie, product lead of autonomous vehicles, previously told Built In. “Today, diesel yard trucks emit 3.8 million metric tons of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere — the equivalent of one coal-firing plant. By using electric yard trucks for our autonomous system, Outrider is accelerating the replacement of thousands of diesel yard trucks.”

Attention-worthy tech: Outrider uses Redis and MongoDB for databases, Express and Node.js for frameworks, React for libraries and C++, JavaScript and Python for languages.

What they do: Crusoe repurposes otherwise wasted energy to fuel the growing demand for computational power in the expanding digital economy. Their mission: eliminate flaring and emissions in the oil field.

Impressive perks: Leadership understands the importance of continuous learning, especially in the ever-evolving field of energy. That’s why noteworthy benefits like paid-for course subscriptions, job training, tuition reimbursement and mentorship programs are available to every employee. The company also offers unlimited PTO for those essential periods of recharging.

Now hiring: Looking to expand your skill set? Open roles currently include a hardware and systems development engineer, senior director of supply chain, project controls specialist, network engineer and more.

What they do: HIMSS is a healthtech company dedicated to improving health care in quality, safety, cost effectiveness and access through the use of information technology and management systems. HIMSS delivers key insights, education and events to healthcare providers, governments and market suppliers.

Making a difference: “What drew me to join HIMSS was a combination of factors,” Software Engineering Manager Vince Molieri previously told Built In. “I am helping build up a product from the early stages, which includes hiring the best talent, developing best practices and selecting the most appropriate technologies. We have the opportunity to move fast like a startup, but get the stability and benefits of a larger organization.”

Diversity included: When it comes to company benefits, HIMSS goes beyond the standard healthcare packages and remote work opportunities. The company also provides an unconscious bias training program, a mean gender pay gap below 10 percent and a highly diverse management team that helps employees feel respected and represented.
