When FullContact CEO Bart Lorang and his cofounders set out to solve the world’s contact information problems, they learned some important lessons about communicating along the way.
The Denver-based startup makes a cloud-based address book for individuals, businesses and developers. Just two months after it was founded in 2010, the startup’s initial product received an unexpected thumbs-up from Web magazine LifeHacker.
The cofounders realized they needed to build a full-scale version of their product – and obtain funding to make that happen. But initial attempts to win investors hit roadblocks, including a lack of patents. “Different investors were saying that we weren’t a fundable entity,” Lorang said.
