As businesses moved from in-person to online transactions last year, website development boomed. Companies that didn’t have websites now needed them and those that had them needed the capability to conduct more transactions online.

Following what was a strong year for web development and e-commerce, web design platform Duda announced Tuesday it raised a $50 million Series D round. This brings the company’s total funding to $100 million.

“We had an excellent year last year,” Itai Sadan, CEO and co-founder of Duda, told Built In. “We saw the growth of the business accelerating and we felt that it’s a good time to hit the gas and continue and grow the business even further. We see a lot of opportunities for continued growth.”

Claridge IL led the Series D round with participation from Vintage Investment Partners and Susquehanna Growth Equity.

Funds from this round will be used to develop new products and features. Investments will also be made in e-commerce and additional capabilities for SaaS companies, Sadan said.

Duda also plans to grow from 180 employees worldwide to 280 in the next year, Sadan said. Headquartered in Palo Alto, California, Duda also has an office in Louisville, Colorado. The Colorado office currently has about 40 people and is actively hiring for five positions. The Palo Alto office has nearly 30 people and is actively hiring for six positions.

Sadan and Amir Glatt, co-founder and CTO, initially launched Duda to help small businesses build mobile websites. Since launching in 2010, the company has expanded as a platform for web designers, digital marketers, agencies, and SaaS companies to build responsive websites.

Duda’s platform has been used by more than 17,000 web professionals to build more than one million published websites. Sadan said the platform aims to solve pain points for web professionals when building a new website. This includes finding a new business to work with, gathering content from the business and communicating feedback between the designer and client.
