GetOutfitted wins first place in Big Idea Pitch Competition

GetOutfitted won the $25,000 first place prize at Colorado College “The Big Idea” competition on Tuesday.

Now in its second year, The Big Ideas competition, aims to foster innovation and entrepreneur. It creates buzz on campus as well as the local and start up communities.

The panel included Brenda Smith, a partner in the Garden of the Gods Club; Karen Kerr, who most recently ran an entrepreneurship program at the University of Southern California; Andrew Pyper, a best-selling author; Mike Slade, who held executive posts at Microsoft, NeXT Computer and Apple and now runs a Seattle venture capital firm; and Bob Selig, president of Davis Instruments.

The competition was solid with 7 teams pitching in front of a panel of the 5 judges. The $15,000 second place prize went to web-based startup KoldSnapp and third place was tied for $10,000 between the non-profit Colorado Springs Food Rescue and an education-based startup SEE.

With over 200 customers served in 26 states and 9 countries, GetOutfitted has already begun attracting solid partners with brands like Patagonia. It's Net promoter score is 90, which is high compared to other ecommerce sites. 

GetOutfitted plans to use the prize money to expand its affiliate network with resorts, hotels, travel agents, and tour operators.
