ScaleFactor, an Austin startup whose software streamlines accounting, employee onboarding, and other back-office operations for small businesses, announced on Thursday that it is opening a new office in Denver.

The company, which raised a $30 million Series B earlier this year, expects to make 100 hires in Denver by the end of 2019. ScaleFactor is initially hiring for product and engineering positions in its Denver office, with plans to expand its local sales team here toward the end of the year.

ScaleFactor CEO Kurt Rathmann spent several years in Denver before launching his company out of Austin. Rathmann cited the city’s emerging status as a “tech mecca” as a reason for choosing Denver as ScaleFactor’s first expansion office.

True to ScaleFactor’s mission of working with small businesses, Rathmann told Built In Colorado that a key priority in expanding its Denver team is to find tech talent with a penchant for thinking like entrepreneurs.

“In addition to having strong technical skills, we’re looking for developers with an entrepreneurial spirit and a drive to learn,” he said. “These roles present a big opportunity to make a difference in the lives of small business owners, so we look for employees who gain a great sense of fulfillment from their work.”

ScaleFactor’s Denver office is located in the Central Business District, in the same building as Ibotta, Sendgrid and Greenhouse.io. And with a reported year-over-year growth of 700 percent, the company plans to launch new offices in several additional cities across the country soon.
