Companies are continuing to build out the Colorado tech scene. With a handful of new developments in the state’s tech scene, find out how these companies are preparing for their next stage of growth. This is the Built In Colorado weekly refresh. 

Orbit Fab relocates to Denver. In moving its engineering talent and company headquarters to the Centennial State from San Francisco, Orbit Fab is joining the state’s bustling aerospace scene. The company works to provide fuel to satellites, like a multi-orbital gas station. When Orbit Fab completes its move, it hopes to hire 196 new members to its team across departments including aerospace, software engineering, business development roles and more with an average salary of $95,867. Duda acquires Snipcart. Web design platform Duda acquired Quebec, Canada-based Snipcart for an undisclosed amount. Snipcart is an e-commerce platform that allows businesses to add digital shopping carts to its website. The acquisition comes three months after Duda raised a $50 million Series D round. [Colorado Daily]

Checkr got $250M. Enterprise clients leverage Checkr’s AI tech to process employee background checks. After its Series E funding round led by Durable Capital, the HR unicorn is looking to grow its team. Currently 550 people strong, Checkr hopes to reach a headcount of 850 by the end of the year, and 1,200 by the end of 2022. This round brings the company’s valuation to $4.6 billion. Checkr is actively hiring dozens in Colorado. [Built in Colorado]

ColdQuanta appointed a new CEO. As it continues its work in cold atom quantum computing, the Boulder-based company announced its latest executive hire, Scott Faris as chief executive officer. Faris was previously chief business officer at Luminar Technologies, Inc. In his new role, he will be responsible for overseeing ColdQuanta’s new business divisions: quantum computing, quantum research as a service and ColdAtom technologies as the company continues to scale. These companies moved to Colorado in 2021. With several new additions so far this year, the state’s tech scene is continuing to grow across a variety of industries. Tech companies from Ohio, California, New Zealand and Australia have all established or announced plans to open new headquarters in Colorado. Some of these new additions are aerospace company PteroDynamics, Fintech company Finder and media production platform NewScape Studios. [Built in Colorado]
