Plans and schedules structural steel fabrication, coordinating material procurement, shop workflows, production sequencing, and delivery requirements. Maintains scheduling and fabrication software, creates optimized cut lists and machine programs, interprets blueprints, tracks productivity, and supports quality, cost, safety, and continuous improvement initiatives. Works closely with project managers, purchasing, shop, field, quality control, and logistics teams in an office-based role with occasional local travel.
Position Summary
Responsible for ensuring the CAD (DETAILING)/FAB process results in products that are fabricated by the Shop personnel meet or exceed the customer’s requirements. Responsible for updating both the forecast and daily schedules to optimize batch flow through the fabrication shop. Work with Project Managers, Shop, and Field personnel, to ensure a high-quality product is produced and delivered on time. Works within established budgets and time guidelines to produce a profit.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities
- Assist the Production Planning Manager in ensuring that the CAD/FAB process results in a product that meets or exceeds the customer’s requirements.
- Assist the Production Planning Manager with the daily Production Planning of work orders.
- Set up the scheduling of material procurement, processing of material, fabrication and painting of structural & miscellaneous steel.
- Assist in the maintenance of Global Shop Solutions scheduling software database.
- Supervise and coordinate material procurement with purchasing to meet requirements of fabrication sequence plans based on construction schedules and shop requirements.
- Interpret specifications and blueprints as needed for recommended processes, improvements, and potential cost impacts.
- Work from sequencing plans that provide a consolidated work sequence, budgeted hours, and required fabrication and delivery dates.
- Manipulate and maintain data in a structural steel design management software program (Tekla PowerFab)
- Nest and program plate shapes for the plasma burn table using ATek Steel Solutions.
- Create cut lists to optimize machine use and efficiency.
- Ensure continuous improvement of the company’s employees through development planning.
- Create cutting programs for Python X using ATek Steel Solutions.
- Generate shop information for QC, shop personnel & logistics.
- Organization and electronic storage of fabrication documents, data and files.
- Enter production sequence into internal scheduling program and develop work orders for fabrication.
- Manage and analyze shop productivity tracking, establish shop production rates for review and disposition by shop superintendent.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Accountability
- Comply with all company policies and procedures.
- Prompt, punctual, and regular attendance during core business hours, in an office environment (not a telecommuting position), including a reliable means of transport to and from work. Ability to occasionally travel between corporate offices and jobsites within the Denver Metro Area, during work hours.

Minimum Physical Requirements
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to: stand, sit, talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer, telephone, and a variety of office equipment.

- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements due to computer work.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of 5 years of planning experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience preferred.
- Ability to work under direct supervision and follow guidance effectively.
- Proven track record of contributing to the development and improvement of operational concepts, techniques, and procedures.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to independently manage tasks within a defined scope and adhere to established procedures.
- Collaborative team player with experience working under general supervision in a dynamic environment.
- Proficient in industry-specific tools, technologies, and methodologies relevant to planning and manufacturing operations.
- Demonstrated sound judgment and initiative in problem-solving, with the ability to make well-informed recommendations
