Job Description

Responsible for providing leadership, direction, and training to members of the Food Label group. Serve as primary resource for final review of Food Labels for US/CAN compliance and point of contact for technical inquiries. Ensures all reported data and label reviews are accurate and completed within the required timeframe.

JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Review and validate work of label review staff to ensure accuracy/compliance of their work against specific and general United States and Canadian regulations and guidelines/policies.
  • Responsible for interviewing, hiring and managing label review staff.
  • Provide training, guidance, support of review staff to improve and expand their knowledge of food labeling regulations.
  • Review Nutritional Label review and provide written results to clients and/or upload into client database as required.
  • Communicate with clients to answer their technical questions regarding Label Review and regulations
  • Continually keep apprised of updated food labeling regulations through internal/external training and train staff accordingly
  • Conducts employee performance reviews and provides ongoing guidance and feedback for continued employee development
  • Creates and oversees processes within the label review department.
  • Communicates necessary changes or information to his or her department Identifies quality related problems and initiates immediate investigation, corrective action, and follow up.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • B.S. degree with a concentration in Food Science, Chemistry, Microbiology, or other relevant science area. Required
  • 5-7 years relevant experience. Required
  • Highly knowledgeable in data reporting, technical requirements and food regulations. Required
  • Knowledge of LIMS systems. Preferred
