Position Profile

Weaver is seeking talented professionals to join our growing Energy Compliance Services (ECS) team. Weaver’s ECS practice is dedicated to helping businesses navigate compliance with evolving regulations, including regulations governed by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the California Air Resources Board, as well as other various states and provinces. Many of the environmental programs we focus on within our ECS practice are rooted in managing the human impact on the environment, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and increasing sustainability. We have substantial expertise and experience with transportation fuel regulations, including petroleum-based fuels as well as renewable fuels.

The ECS Regulatory Consulting Services Manager will be responsible for developing expertise in laws and regulations related to various low carbon fuels programs and/or voluntary greenhouse gas emission reduction programs. They will primarily lead life cycle analysis and modeling engagements related to federal and state low‑carbon fuel programs, act as a subject matter expert on regulatory compliance and technical interpretation and collaborate with audit and advisory teams delivering limited and reasonable assurance over greenhouse gas emissions and climate‑related disclosures. They will supervise activity of the team and review all deliverables for completeness, accuracy, and technical proficiency. They will direct others in engagement planning activities such as time budgets, required documentation, procedure design, and risk identification. They will manage existing business of at least $500,000 and work on business development activities, including internal and external marketing. The Manager will work closely with leadership in a physical office setting (Houston, Austin, or San Diego) or remotely from our Virtual Office to execute plans effectively. Generally, after the first year with Weaver, the Manager will be assigned a team of direct reports.

To be successful in this role, the following qualifications are required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, chemistry, engineering, or related space
  • 6+ years of experience in the chemical engineering/environmental science field, focused on greenhouse gas emissions accounting, modeling, and reporting, with a solid background in project management, consulting, regulatory compliance, and/or client relations
  • Demonstrates independent thinking and strong decision-making skills
  • Excellent writing and presentation skills
  • Develops meaningful client relationships and acts on ways to improve client satisfaction
  • Experience performing and leading life cycle modeling projects using GREET models and other program specific calculators, as required
  • Demonstrates proficiency in greenhouse gas accounting and reporting using various frameworks 
  • Extensive understanding of refining and renewable fuel production processes
  • Experience interpreting process flow diagrams (PFDs), process descriptions, and technical documentation 

Additionally, the following qualifications are preferred:

  • Advanced degree preferred (i.e. master's degree in engineering, master's degree in science - Environmental Sciences)
  • Experience as a mentor, passionate about training others and serving as a resource to less experienced team members
  • Assess nature of conflict quickly and use appropriate interpersonal style to reduce tension and enhance negotiation/agreement 

Annual Base Pay Range in California: $115,000.00 to $145,000.00

Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location.
