Joy 101 is Hoda Kotb's content, community, and experiences company, built on one belief: Joy is a practice, not a destination you arrive at or a reward you earn when life finally gets easier. It's something you choose deliberately, every single day, until choosing it becomes who you are.

We're looking for a part-time (20-30 hrs/week) Lifecycle Marketing Manager to work alongside our Sr. Lifecycle Marketing Manager across both sides of the business: our core consumer product and the enterprise partner programs that offer Joy 101 as a member benefit. The two audiences arrive differently, one by choice and one through their employer, and they need different things from us.

This role is technical first. The hard part of lifecycle here isn't coming up with the idea, it's building the thing correctly with multi-branch logic, event-based triggers, clean data going in, suppression logic, and a rigorous QA process. You'll spend most of your time inside Braze, and you should like it there.

You do, however, need real marketing instincts. You'll design flows, not just wire them, which means understanding why a message lands and where a journey should branch. You'll write and sharpen copy. But we’re looking for a hire who thinks in systems and knows how to build.

This is a part-time contract role, 20 to 30 hours a week for 3 to 6 months, with potential to renew.

What You'll DoBuild the systems
  • Own Canvases, segmentation, behavioral triggers, suppression logic, subscription groups, frequency caps, and send scheduling across consumer and enterprise programs.
  • Design and build multi-branch journey logic that holds up in the real world.
  • Work with data and product on the events, attributes, and instrumentation that lifecycle depends on. Know what you need, ask for it clearly, and verify it's landing correctly before you build on it.
  • Use Liquid, custom attributes, and API-triggered campaigns to do things templates alone can't.
Own QA and program health
  • Set and hold the QA standard: targeting, rendering across clients, link integrity, timing logic, merge tags, fallback values, edge cases. Build it as repeatable process with documentation so that nothing ships unverified.
  • Monitor deliverability, opens, clicks, unsubscribes, and downstream conversion and retention. Flag issues before anyone asks.
  • Diagnose when something breaks: a stalled Canvas, a segment behaving strangely, and a genuinely underperforming message look similar in a dashboard and require different fixes.
Design flows and write the copy
  • Design journey strategy with the Sr. Lifecycle Manager: what the flow should do, where it branches, what triggers it, and what success looks like.
  • Write and sharpen email, push, and in-app copy for both audiences.
  • Make sure every message sounds like Joy 101.
Test, report, and improve
  • Run tests that answer real questions. Build them correctly, size them honestly, and be straight about what the results say.
  • Find underperformers and fix them. Subject line, timing, segment, content, or the journey logic itself.
  • Bring a weekly read to the Sr. Lifecycle Marketing Manager: what's working, what's not, what you'd change next.
  • Spot patterns across programs that need a fix.
What You Bring
  • 4+ years in lifecycle, CRM, or marketing operations, ideally on a subscription or app product.
  • Deep Braze skills. You can architect a multi-branch Canvas from a blank page, debug one that's misbehaving, and QA it without a guide. You know where Braze will fight you.
  • Real technical fluency: Liquid templating, custom events and attributes, API-triggered campaigns, webhooks, and a working understanding of how data gets from the product into your tool.
  • Comfort with data. You can pull your own numbers, write a query or navigate an analytics tool without waiting on someone, and separate signal from noise.
  • Detail orientation. You catch the broken merge tag, the wrong audience filter, the missing fallback, the link that goes nowhere.
  • Solid marketing judgment. You can read a subject line and know in ten seconds whether it will land, and you know where a journey should branch and why.
  • Comfort working autonomously from a brief. You need clear inputs and then space to execute.
Nice to Have
  • Experience with B2B2C or employer-sponsored benefit programs.
  • Experience running multiple co-branded programs at once with distinct audiences and suppression rules.
  • Health, wellness, or media and content backgrounds.
