We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Orbital Analyst to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of orbital mechanics and satellite situational awareness (SSA) concepts. This role requires not only strong technical skills but also proven leadership abilities to manage a team, mentor junior analysts, and effectively communicate complex information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including customers. The Lead Orbital Analyst will be a critical problem-solver, responsible for analyzing satellite behavior, characterizing anomalous situations, and collaborating with our software development team to enhance product capabilities.

  • Orbital Analysis and Situational Awareness:
    • Apply a comprehensive understanding of satellite orbital parameters, state solutions, and perturbation forces to analyze and interpret orbital data.
    • Evaluate the impact of various maneuver types on satellite orbits.
    • Utilize SSA concepts to maintain awareness and characterization of objects in space.
  • Leadership and Team Management:
    • Lead, mentor, and train a team of orbital analysts, fostering their professional growth and technical expertise.
    • Serve as a subject matter expert, guiding the team in understanding complex OA concepts.
    • Comfortably engage in technical discussions with customers, translating complex analytical findings into clear, actionable insights.
  • Problem-Solving and Innovation:
    • Analyze historical and real-time satellite data to identify patterns and characterize satellite behavior.
    • Apply creative and "outside the box" thinking to hypothesize and identify potential new capabilities or interpretations of situations.
    • Collaborate directly with the software development team to provide analytical requirements and feedback for product refinement.
  • Required Qualifications:
    • Active TS/SCI clearance
    • Proven experience in orbital analysis and satellite situational awareness.
    • Demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to manage and mentor a team.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills, especially in a customer-facing environment.
    • Exceptional problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Work Environment:
  • Location: Remote but core hours 8-4 Colorado MST
  • Travel Requirements: Minimal
  • Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40 hours

Basic Compensation: 

$130 -200k (Rate applicable for Colorado Springs, CO only)

  • The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, abilities and/or experience and in consideration of internal parity.

Additional Compensation:

  • KBR may offer bonuses, commissions, or other forms of compensation to certain job titles or levels, per internal policy or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be in the form of sign on bonus, relocation benefits, short term incentives, long term incentives, or discretionary payments for exceptional performance.
