Job Summary: As a member of the resort leadership team reporting to the GM/President, the Director of Human Resources leads and executes all human resources functions at Eldora Mountain Resort. This role oversees employee relations, safety, performance management, employee engagement, recruiting, retention, labor relations, and staff development, ensuring alignment with resort strategy and full compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. This position plays a key role in shaping a high-performing, guest-focused culture, partnering closely with the Executive Team to drive employee engagement, strengthen organizational culture, and deliver exceptional internal and external guest service.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Serves as a trusted "thought leader" in defining, aligning, and delivering a long-term vision and strategy for enterprise talent programs, recommending and overseeing the implementation of future-focused HR processes, policies and practices that deliver on strategic business objectives
- Inspires trust, serves as a strategic advisor, and builds strong relationships with senior stakeholders; develops and presents recommendations for talent acquisition, talent development, performance management, and all other HR deliverables
- Collaborate with senior leadership to understand the organizations goals and strategy related to staffing, recruiting, employee experience and retention
- Oversees forecasts, budgets, resources, and initiative performance in areas of responsibility
- Responsible for compensation analysis throughout the business; adjusting as needed based on trending market data
- Designs and implements HR programs, structures, processes and technology; accountable for completion of approved initiatives, on time and within budget
- Oversees Employee Housing program
- Regularly reviews and evaluates the return on investment, return on expectations, and effectiveness of HR programs in areas of responsibility; makes modifications to maintain value and relevancy
- Establishes clear expectations for risk mitigation and issues escalation related to all employment practices; makes decisions, strategizes/takes action to reach resolutions and escalates further as necessary
- Adopts a growth mindset with a focus on continuous improvement; looks for opportunities to create efficiencies and add value based on the Company's unique workforce needs
- Monitors external trends best practices in Human Resources/Talent Management to promote an outside-in view of the talent landscape
- Stays abreast of changes in laws, regulations, policies, and programs relevant to employee relations and employment practices, ensuring adherence to legal requirements and Company policies
- Creates and/or amends Human Resources policies and processes as business or legislative changes required.
- Provides leadership and direction to leaders and direct reports to ensure executional excellence and strong compliance with all applicable legislation, regulations, and Company policies and procedures
- Invests time in coaching, mentoring, supporting, and developing team members to achieve desired performance and career outcomes
- Oversee company safety program execution that encompasses policies and procedures, actively contributing to a safe working environment for self, coworkers, and guests.
- Administer potential litigation claims.
- All employees are expected to support Eldora’s corporate responsibility commitment to protect the environment by participating in our Sustainable Transportation Program. This includes choosing alternative transportation, carpooling, using the employee shuttle, and avoiding onsite parking on weekends and peak days. These actions help reduce Scope 3 emissions, led by example, and ensure adequate parking for our guests.
- Must be able to work weekends and holidays as required by resort operations.

Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required; Master’s degree or advanced certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, SPHR) preferred
- 7–10+ years of progressive Human Resources experience, with at least 3–5 years in a senior leadership role
- Proven experience leading HR strategy and operations in a fast-paced, seasonal, or hospitality-driven environment preferred
- Strong background in employee relations, labor relations, and compliance, including working knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws
- Demonstrated success in driving employee engagement, culture initiatives, and organizational development efforts
- Experience managing recruiting, retention strategies, and workforce planning at scale
- Proven ability to partner with executive leadership to align HR strategy with business goals
- Experience leading and developing high-performing HR teams
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with the ability to handle complex and sensitive situations
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization
- Must have strong ability to adapt to constantly changing circumstances.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to pass MVR check
- Must be at least 18 years old to operate company vehicles.
- Ability to pass background check to company standards
Supervisory Duties:
- Oversee a team of ~4 employees
Benefits & Compensation:
- Compensation: Proposed hiring range of $110,000 - $115,000+ depending on experience.
- Benefits: This position is full-time, year round position and includes an outstanding benefit package. This position is eligible to enroll in company medical, dental, vision, flexible spending, HSA, life/disability options; season pass for employees/dependents and privileges at several other resorts. Several discount programs (i.e., food & beverage, retail/rental, tickets, etc.) also available.
