Just because its summer doesn’t mean the job market is slowing down. In fact, the Colorado job market is positively sizzling. Amazon led the way with plans to escalate its staff, but companies like Skupos, Mile High Labs and Matillion are all looking to expand their teams in Colorado. These were some of the biggest announcements we saw in June.

Growing by 2,000

What they do: You don’t need us to tell you what Amazon does. The company maintains a large presence in Colorado with an office in downtown Denver along with fulfillment warehouses in Englewood, Centennial, Aurora, Thornton, Colorado Springs and Denver.

The jobs: Two months after announcing plans to hire 400 tech workers in Denver and Boulder, the company announced that it’s hiring more than 2,000 positions in their warehouses, according to reports in the Denver Business Journal. The hiring spree coincides with the company’s efforts to cut its free Prime shipping from two days to one.

Growing by 120

What they do: While numerous analytics platforms and software products have been created to improve sales at retail and e-commerce centers, convenience stores have largely been forgotten — until now. Skupos launched in 2016 to provide a data analytics platform designed specifically to the needs of convenience stores. The platform analyzes millions of transactions and spits out insights to increase sales and revenue-driving campaigns.

The jobs: Based in San Francisco and Denver, Skupos raised $26.8 million in funding this past June to fuel its growth. To go along with that growth, Skupos aims to add 120 jobs in Denver, according to reports in Colorado Inno

Growing by 100

What they do: Founded in 2016, Mile High Labs has become one of the biggest players in the CBD boom. The company, which produces CBD products, has created the first complete end-to-end CBD product pipeline at an industrial scale.

The jobs: After picking up a $65 million loan facility two months ago, Mile High Labs purchased a 400,000 square foot pharmaceutical production facility. To go with its new facility, the company aims to add about 100 jobs by the end of the year.

Growing by 50 to 75

What they do: Founded in 2011, Matillion provides a cloud services management platform that helps businesses make sense of all that data they’re storing in the cloud. The company’s platform pulls data from all sources, and then aggregates it to help customers draw insights and make informed decisions from all those numbers.

The jobs: After raising a $35 million Series C round, Matillion has big growth plans. The company aims to add between 50 and 75 jobs before the end of the year.
