The Company:

Sunbit builds financial technology for real life. Our AI-native platform helps more people get to “yes” at the moments that matter with personalized offers, transparent terms, and no added consumer fees. For everything else, the Sunbit Credit Card delivers a modern, no-fee credit experience managed in a powerful mobile app.

We are guided by people-centered values: Serve Others Before Self, Include Always, Connect Genuinely, Innovate for Good. These values shape how we build, how we support customers and merchants, and how we work with each other.

What makes Sunbit different is an AI-native infrastructure that runs through the full customer and merchant journey. Today, Sunbit is available across a nationwide, in-person merchant network of 30,000+ locations spanning auto service centers, dental and optical practices, veterinary clinics, and other specialty services. We help teams say “yes” more often and help customers move forward with confidence.

The Role:

Sunbit is seeking a Sr. Manager, Technical Accounting & Financial Reporting to own the technical accounting and external financial reporting a public company requires, and to get Sunbit ready to file. You will be the technical authority on US GAAP for a consumer lending business, making sure the numbers, the disclosures and the documentation hold up to auditors, investors and the SEC.

Requirements

What you’ll Own:

  • Own technical accounting policies and memos, including revenue recognition, loan and receivable accounting, allowance for credit losses (CECL), fair value, securitizations and variable interest entities, debt and equity, and stock-based compensation.
  • Lead the build of external reporting: audited financial statements, quarterly reviews, footnote disclosures, and the readiness work for S-1 and later 10-Q and 10-K filings.
  • Manage the relationship with the external auditors and the audit process.
  • Evaluate new accounting standards and complex transactions, and document conclusions.
  • Partner with Finance Applications on the systems and automation that support close, consolidation and reporting.
  • Support SOX readiness: help design and test controls over financial reporting, and own the documentation for accounting judgments and estimates.
  • Lead and develop the reporting and technical accounting team, coordinating with the accounting group on the West Coast and with Israel.

What You’ll Bring:

  • 8+ years in accounting, including public accounting (Big 4 or equivalent) and time at a public or pre-IPO company.
  • Deep US GAAP experience in consumer lending or fintech: CECL, loan origination fees and costs, loan sales, securitization and warehouse facilities.
  • Experience with SEC reporting, ideally including an IPO or S-1 process.
  • CPA required.
  • Experience managing teams and external auditors.
  • Experience with a buy-now-pay-later or point-of-sale lending model, and with automated close and reporting tools, preferred.

How We Pay:

  • We believe in paying fairly and equitably based on a number of factors including but not limited to previous experience, relevant work history, interview performance, geographical location, internal equity, and expected level of ownership.
  • We are targeting a salary of $165,000-185,000 per year for this role
  • This role will also be granted company equity via stock options

The Perks:

  • Mission driven, empowered, and collaborative culture
  • Competitive pay and stock options
  • Unlimited PTO
  • Comprehensive health benefits (Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, EAP, Parental Leave, HSA, & more)
  • Newly added HSA and Pet Insurance

  • Cell Phone Stipend
  • Team-based strategic planning and ownership of deliverables
