Sr Engineering Manager - Regional Customer Application Engineering (Americas)
Roles and Responsibilities
- At a regional level - Provides technical expertise and develops technical solutions (configuration, performance estimation, economics, etc.) as part of the pre-ITO (requisition) process while interfacing with the commercial team. Possesses a deep understanding of power generation markets and customer economic value that aid winning bid strategies. To include 'ITO': Technical analysis of client need: definition and optimization of the products; scope (description); schedule; industrial scheme; cost, considering contract and internal policies and procedures. Calculation of plant, system and equipment performance and efficiency. Documentation of technical specifications & costing elements for further contract execution phases.
- Manages a small to medium team of senior professionals as well as others. Requires specialized knowledge within the function. Influence the development of strategy for the area of responsibility, including control of resources and influences policy formulation.
- Own a combination of pre-ITO process, execution, and technical deliverables for all opportunities from assigned account managers (regardless of complexity) and standard work for the pre-ITO AE function.
- Work closely with regional customer, sales & commercial leadership to ensure internal / external customer satisfaction.
- Partner with global Leaders & cross-functionally on process, tool & methods improvement to drive quality and productivity across RCAE team with standard work.
- Be accountable that the quantitative lifecycle economic view of GE versus the closest competitor is accurately illustrated in the context of the opportunity & consistent with best available practices.
- Distribute workload by maintaining awareness of the strengths and capabilities of the team members.
- Provide LEAN guidance & technical training and development for RCAE team & be a technical mentor to less experienced engineers to accurately interpret and transfer scope and technical needs into the Deal Workbook.
- Promote/share team needs with Consulting Engineer and leverage the technical depth of the global team.
- Provide oversight, direction, and technical reviews to ensure the quality of solutions being handed over to ITO. Solutions should take into consideration Plant configuration, scope structure, and competitiveness during pre-ITO/ITO phase.
- Provide oversight and direction in promoting GE Vernova standard design products in the marketplace with proactive influencing and advocacy of customers and EPC partners.
- Serve as Influencer and leader of Subject Matter Experts (SME), and where qualified, drive product/discipline aligned focus and provide in-team first point of contact to cross-functional leader.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 6 years of experience in gas power engineering- related discipline.
- 8 years of progressive engineering experience in the Gas Power industry.
- Fluent in English language with strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Sound knowledge of simple & combined cycle product portfolio, plant economics & lifecycle evaluation, plant operability, and associated equipment for power plants.
- Ability and willingness to travel regularly (up to ~20%) over a wide region for Customer meetings or events.

- Advanced Engineering degree.
- Comprehensive knowledge of GE Gas Power products and technology (Heavy-Duty Gas Turbine, Steam Turbine, CC, CHP, processes, and organizational structure.
- Strong external focus, with ability to assess impact of price and performance decisions on Customers, market, & investors.
- Proven analytical skill set and strategic mindset.
- Knowledgeable in power generation industry trends and competition.
- Deep expertise in power plant thermodynamics and modelling, preferably with GTP and Ebsilon.
- Deep project economic modelling knowledge and experience, preferably using EVM Ultra-Lite.
- Self-driven with the ability to work in a regional and global team.
- Enthusiastically practices lean. Helps build and ensure adherence to standard work; utilizes continuous improvement principles and tools in daily work to drive better outcomes.
- Proactive approach to problem solving and positive attitude with high levels of self-motivation and able to make appropriate informed decisions within the assigned task.
For U.S. based candidates only, for purposes of complying with U.S. pay transparency requirements, The base pay range for this position is $131,700.00 - $219,300.00 USD per year.
The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for a 15% performance bonus.
*The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas.
