Role Summary

Rowan Digital Infrastructure is looking for an Associate of Sustainability to support the integration of environmentally responsible practices and decarbonization strategies across the portfolio. The role is based in our Denver, CO headquarters reporting to the Director of Sustainable Practices at the beginning and will focus on sustainable project outcomes while positioning Rowan as the leader in responsible and innovative development.

The successful candidate will have project experience in design and a deep understanding of sustainability principles with a passion for execution. This is an excellent opportunity to work on actively decarbonizing digital infrastructure at a national scale with some of the most innovative and impactful teams in the industry.

Travel: Ability to travel up to 15% for company gatherings or project sites

Location: Denver, CO (3-day hybrid in-office role)

Compensation: $70K-$85K (Offers Bonus)

Essential Responsibilities

  • Facilitate the integration of sustainability practices and corporate objectives into projects across multiple stages of development, with a primary focus on site evaluation, due diligence, and early design activities

  • Collaborate with the Site Origination, Development, Energy, Water, Engineering, Construction and Operations teams to support the integration of sustainability strategies across multiple projects

  • Support the implementation of sustainability objectives, including greenhouse gas reduction strategies, sustainability reporting, project certifications, and customer ESG requirements

  • Support the collection, analysis, and reporting of sustainability performance metrics, including energy, water, carbon, waste, and embodied carbon impacts across projects

  • Assist in the development and refinement of technical reports, presentations, and other sustainability-related deliverables for internal and external stakeholders

  • Support business development activities, including investment memos, site due diligence efforts, and corporate sustainability reporting

  • Develop working relationships with project teams, consultants, contractors, and customer representatives to support the successful execution of sustainability initiatives

  • Support sustainability-related due diligence efforts by identifying project risks, opportunities, and sustainability considerations during site selection and development activities

  • Monitor industry trends, best practices, and emerging sustainability topics and share relevant insights with project teams

Education, Skills, and Experience

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in environmental science, sustainability, architecture, engineering, construction management, or a related field with 2-5 years of professional experience in sustainability consulting, sustainable design, ESG, real estate development, infrastructure, or related disciplines

  • Experience working on development, design, construction, infrastructure, industrial, energy, or mission-critical facility projects preferred

  • Demonstrated curiosity, initiative, and a willingness to learn new sustainability concepts, tools, and technologies in a rapidly evolving industry

  • Experience supporting project certifications, sustainability assessments, life cycle assessments, embodied carbon analysis, and/or greenhouse gas accounting

  • Familiarity with sustainability reporting frameworks and assessment methodologies such as GHG Protocol, SBTi, CDP, GRESB, ISSB, SFDR, or similar programs

  • Strong organizational and project coordination skills with the ability to support multiple cross-functional initiatives in a fast-paced environment

  • Exceptional visual, verbal, and written communication skills

  • Experience using sustainability and project management tools (Procore, EC3, One Click LCA, etc.) preferred

  • LEED Green Associate, LEED AP, WELL AP, ENV SP, or similar sustainability credential preferred
