Software Engineer

LendingTree is looking for a Software Engineer to join our Insurance technology team and help build, enhance, and support web applications used by our customers and internal teams. You will contribute to new capabilities while also making thoughtful improvements within  existing and greenfield codebases, including applications that integrate with third-party services and databases. You will partner with teammates and the business to understand requirements, solve technical problems, and deliver reliable, maintainable software. Our team primarily works in C#/.NET and modern web technologies, but we are open to engineers from other technical backgrounds who bring strong software engineering fundamentals, are eager to learn, and can ramp quickly.

• Develop and enhance scalable, maintainable web applications that support LendingTree's Insurance business, including solutions that integrate with third-party web services, databases, and user-facing interfaces.
• Support existing applications through troubleshooting, bug fixes, required upgrades, performance improvements, and changes to existing functionality.
• Break down business and technical problems and contribute to solutions that are reliable, practical, and maintainable over time.
• Translate business requirements and acceptance criteria into well-designed technical solutions, and demonstrate completed features against agreed-upon outcomes.
• Contribute to strong engineering practices through code reviews, testing, documentation, design discussions, and continuous improvement of the development process.
• Collaborate with teammates and business partners on shared initiatives, communicating technical ideas, questions, and tradeoffs clearly.

You will be part of the technology team supporting LendingTree's Insurance business, working closely with other engineers and business partners to build and enhance applications that support our customers and internal teams. This is a collaborative environment where engineers are encouraged to understand the business context behind the work, ask questions, share ideas, participate in code review and technical discussions, and learn from one another while delivering high-quality software.

• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience building and supporting web applications.
• Experience with a modern object-oriented programming language and web development framework. Our team primarily uses C# and .NET/ASP.NET, but experience with comparable technologies is welcome if you have strong fundamentals and can ramp quickly.
• Experience with JavaScript or TypeScript and modern front-end frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue, or demonstrated ability to learn new frameworks quickly.
• Experience building business applications using relational databases such as SQL Server and familiarity with database design and data access patterns; exposure to NoSQL databases is helpful.
• Experience building and integrating with service-oriented and event-driven systems, including APIs and third-party integrations.
• Understanding of software engineering best practices, including maintainable design, SOLID principles, design patterns, code review, and unit testing.
• Experience working in an Agile development environment and delivering work against defined requirements and acceptance criteria.
• Exposure to AI technologies and tools, with an understanding of how AI can be applied to support technical processes, workflows, and business outcomes.
• Ability to understand business logic and project requirements and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical partners.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.

• You are curious and willing to learn new languages, frameworks, technologies, and business domains rather than being tied to one specific stack.
• You are comfortable working in an established codebase and can make thoughtful changes while balancing quality, maintainability, and risk.
• You care about code quality and view code review and feedback as tools for learning, improving the product, and making the team stronger.
• You enjoy collaborating with other developers, sharing what you know, asking questions, and learning from others.
• You are willing to question assumptions constructively and voice your point of view when you see an opportunity to improve the work.
• Exposure to cloud environments such as Azure, AWS, or GCP is helpful. Azure experience, including provisioning, monitoring, performance management, or Application Insights, is a plus.
• Knowledge of current web development practices using HTML5, CSS, and TypeScript is helpful.

• You build a strong understanding of the Insurance applications, integrations, and business processes you support and become a dependable contributor to the team.
• You become productive in the team's technology stack, applying your existing engineering fundamentals while learning unfamiliar tools or frameworks as needed.
• New features and enhancements are delivered against clear requirements and acceptance criteria with maintainability, reliability, and testability in mind.
• Existing applications are supported and improved through thoughtful fixes, upgrades, and engineering improvements.
• Business partners and teammates can rely on you to communicate clearly, ask the right questions, and collaborate effectively on shared work.
• You contribute to a strong engineering environment through quality code, constructive code review, documentation, and continuous learning.

The Details

Base Pay: $100,000-130,000

The base pay offered may vary based on internal factors, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

Incentive Compensation: This position is eligible for an annual performance bonus.
