Role Overview

  • Location: Remote (Mexico)
  • Schedule: 2nd shift (4p-12 midnight); Saturday through Wednesday 
  • Pay Rate: 25,000 (MXN)
Your Mission as a SOC Engineer I

As a SOC Engineer I, you will monitor security alerts and events, perform initial threat triage, and escalate incidents as needed to help maintain a secure and resilient operational environment. 

  • Monitor and respond to alerts across security, network, systems, and cloud platforms.
  • Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to triage, resolve, or escalate issues appropriately.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of incidents, investigations, and daily operational activities.
  • Collaborate with senior engineers and analysts to develop technical and investigative skills.
  • Participate in on-call rotations and shift coverage as required to support 24x7 operations.
  • Adhere to company policies, client requirements, and compliance standards.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes and operational efficiency.

Security Operations Responsibilities

  • Monitor SIEM, EDR, and threat intelligence platforms for actionable security alerts.
  • Perform initial triage and event correlation using established runbooks and procedures.
  • Validate alerts to reduce false positives and improve operational effectiveness.
  • Escalate suspicious activity and potential security incidents to senior team members.
  • Support vulnerability management initiatives by tracking remediation efforts.
  • Document investigation findings and response actions for compliance and operational purposes.

Systems Operations Responsibilities

  • Monitor server health, services, and infrastructure performance using operational dashboards.
  • Perform basic triage on system alerts involving service interruptions, resource utilization, and storage concerns.
  • Leverage foundational knowledge of Windows, Linux, and Active Directory environments.
  • Assist with routine operational tasks such as service restarts, log collection, and patch validation.
  • Escalate complex issues following established procedures and SOPs.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of incidents and resolutions.

Cloud Operations Responsibilities

  • Monitor Azure, AWS, and Microsoft 365 environments for availability, performance, and critical alerts.
  • Review monitoring platforms such as Azure Monitor and AWS CloudWatch to validate service health.
  • Identify and escalate issues affecting production cloud environments and business operations.
  • Assist with validating backup success, replication status, and recovery readiness.
  • Support cloud governance and compliance initiatives through established operational processes
What You Bring to the Team

Education & Certifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field preferred.
  • Internship experience or relevant coursework in networking, cybersecurity, or systems administration is a plus.
  • Preferred certifications (or willingness to obtain):
    • CompTIA A+
    • CompTIA Network+
    • CompTIA Security+
    • Microsoft Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900)
    • Cisco Certified Support Technician (CCST)

Experience & Skills

  • 0-1 year of experience in a help desk, technical support, SOC, or IT operations environment.
  • Foundational understanding of cybersecurity concepts such as phishing, malware, vulnerabilities, and least privilege.
  • Basic knowledge of networking and systems concepts including IP addressing, DNS, firewalls, and Windows/Linux operating systems.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow structured processes and accurately document work performed.
  • Ability to manage multiple alerts, prioritize effectively, and escalate issues appropriately.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Eagerness to learn, accept feedback, and continuously develop technical skills.
  • Basic familiarity with SIEM, EDR, ticketing systems, or security tools through coursework, labs, internships, or self-study is a plus.
  • Ability to support a 24/7/365 operational environment, including nights, weekends, and holidays when needed.
