Senior Engineer, Software DSBC
Position Profile
Technical professional serving as the critical bridge between the Information Development team, Product Engineering, and Development for high‑speed continuous feed inkjet printers. Instrumental in bridging the knowledge gap between technical writers and engineering teams, directly improving the quality of documentation relied on by customers and field engineers.
This role combines hands‑on technical investigation with strong communication skills to translate complex printer system knowledge into actionable insights for technical writers. Regular lab work builds deep product expertise, acting as the team’s “eyes and ears” on printer technology and corrective actions.
Works under normal supervision of management and general guidance of senior professionals, collaborating closely with cross‑functional teams. Offers a path to Advisory Engineering roles as domain expertise develops.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Serve as primary technical liaison between Information Development, Product Engineering, and Development teams.
- Investigate and reverse‑engineer complex printer systems to understand product functionality and behavior.
- Translate technical findings into clear documentation and guidance for technical writers.
- Work regularly in the lab to stay current on printer technology, field‑reported issues, and resolutions.
- Provide input and recommendations to improve service documentation.
- Facilitate communication flow between field engineers, development teams, and information development.
- Leverage AI tools and modern technologies to enhance research and documentation quality.
- Contribute to project planning and cross‑functional initiatives.
- Recommend solutions to technical issues impacting documentation accuracy.
- Document work and share knowledge proactively.
- Support changing business needs and assume additional responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
Required
- BS in Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field.
- Ability to understand and analyze complex electromechanical systems.
- 2–4 years of relevant experience.
- Experience with product engineering, reverse engineering, or technical troubleshooting.
- Experience working with global engineering teams, including flexibility for occasional off‑hours meetings.
Preferred
- Background in printing technology, imaging systems, or related industrial equipment.
- Knowledge of documentation tools/languages: DITA, SGML, Oxygen, CCMS, static site generators.
- Familiarity with parts databases, wiring diagrams, assembly documentation, and engineering schematics.
