The Senior Manager of AI Engineering at EchoStar leads the engineering teams responsible for building, deploying, and scaling the next-generation AI ecosystem. This forward-looking leadership position focuses on solving complex challenges in Agentic AI application engineering, intelligent orchestration, and multi-agent system productionalization. The role addresses the need for enterprise-grade scalability by overseeing core Databricks on AWS platform operations that empower advanced LLM-driven capabilities. Reporting directly to the Head of AI Engineering, this position shapes the technical direction of AI during a period of rapid organizational expansion.

What Success Looks Like (Objectives):

• Spearhead the architecture, development, and productionalization of advanced Agentic AI applications, multi-agent systems, and intelligent workflows
• Direct-line manage engineering managers and a growing team of junior, mid-level, and senior engineers; drive hiring, onboarding, and technical mentorship as the team expands its application capabilities
• Provide executive and architectural oversight for the core AI/ML platform (Databricks on AWS), ensuring a highly stable, secure, and optimized environment that accelerates AI application deployment
• Partner closely with dedicated Product Managers and Product Owners to translate a bleeding-edge AI product roadmap into concrete, predictable engineering execution
• Establish modern software engineering standards for AI applications, enforcing best practices for code quality, testing frameworks, CI/CD pipelines, and Python development

Core Skills and Competencies (What you’ll bring):

• Deep professional expertise in building and deploying production-grade AI applications, Agentic AI workflows, LLM orchestration frameworks, and vector databases
• Solid architectural capabilities with Databricks and AWS to effectively guide platform operations and ensure infrastructure aligns with application needs
• Advanced proficiency in Python and modern DevOps/DataOps tooling, including GitLab, Artifactory, and CI/CD pipelines
• Expert-level capability in Agile and Scrum methodologies using Jira and Confluence to run highly efficient engineering sprints in partnership with Product management
• Critical experience leading high-performing software or data engineering teams for over seven years, including at least three years of formal people management
• AI Innovation skills to successfully spearhead next-generation intelligent orchestration across expanding organizational boundaries

Minimum Requirements:

• Minimum Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field
• Minimum Experience: 7 years of experience in software or data engineering, with at least 3 years in a formal people management role
• Required Technical Skills: Must have at least 3 years of experience with:
  • Production-grade AI applications, Agentic AI workflows, and LLM orchestration frameworks such as LangChain, LlamaIndex, or AutoGen
  • Databricks and AWS cloud infrastructure optimization
  • Python development and modern DevOps/DataOps tools including GitLab, Artifactory, and CI/CD pipelines

The base pay range shown is a guideline. Individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, and competencies; compensation is based on the role's location and is subject to change based on work location.
