Your role at a glance

The Senior Electrical expert is a key member of the NTT Global Design Standards team, working on and delivering translation of the NTT GID Design ’Product’ defined Owner Project Requirements (OPR) into the Global Reference Design (GRD). They provide regional understanding of the GRD and its engineering details as it is required to be localized and deployed through third party Architects and Engineers (A/Es). They will support project design reviews at all stages of project design and delivery on an as required basis.
They will interface with internal stakeholders from parallel business functions, the NTT Product team, regional design delivery teams, and design managers. They will consult with members of our Engineer, Expansion, Construction, Operations, Product, and Sales teams to ensure optimal design decisions are made with careful assessment of risks and opportunities.
The will work closely with the Technical Director of Global Design Standards to drive effectiveness, efficiency, innovation, speed to market, and predictability at scale in the development and adoption of best practices design process and procedures. They will support in the management of the Global Design Standards team advising on workload, prioritization, and development areas.

What we are looking for

Key Roles and Responsibilities:
•    Lead and oversee complex electrical engineering projects, from concept to execution, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
•    Provide technical guidance and mentorship to mid-level and entry-level electrical engineers.
•    Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement and innovation in electrical systems for data center infrastructure.
•    Contribute to the development and optimization of electrical systems and upgrades.
•    Stay informed about emerging trends and best practices in electrical engineering and apply them to enhance our operations.
•    Participate in Vendor engagement to determine technical innovation and market eveolution opportunities to lead design development within the electrical engineering discipline
•    Prepare and present technical reports and updates to senior management.
•    Primary electrical reviewer of project design documents.
•    Provide expert guidance on the performance of engineering calculations and studies.
Knowledge, Skills and Attributes:
•    In-depth expertise in Electrical Engineering including: MV and LV Power, Lighitng, Grounding, Lightning Protection, Routing (above    and below grade), Fire Alarm, and Mission Critical design and analysis.
•    In-depth expertise in Electrical Systems including: MV Switchgear, MV Transformers, LV Generators, LV Switchgear / Switchboards / Panelboards, ATS, STS, UPS and power redundancy design (distributed vs. block, N, 5N/4, 2N, etc.), PDU, RPP, Busway, Relay / Breaker settings and coordination.
•    Advanced proficiency in Computer Aided Design (CAD), Building Information Modeling (BIM), and engineering calculation (SKM/ETAP/AMPCALC/Lighting) software for complex designs.
•    Strong ability to optimize and fine-tune engineering systems for maximum efficiency.
•    High level of competence and familiarity with energy calculations.
•    Adept and practiced at Neher-McGrath, Photometric, Power System Load, Load Balance, Voltage Drop, and Short Circuit / Arc Flash calculations including the ability to analize results presented from reports / drawings and provide analysis as well as recognize deficiencies / errors and provide direction.
•    Highly developed understanding of Cx processes and test scripts.
•    Proficient in creation and analysis of Electrical Engienering Specifications, as well as review of equipment submitted to meet specifications.
•    Comprehensive understanding of data center infrastructure and its integration with engineering systems.
•    Operating engineering experience with large electrical systems including BMS trending, off-normal operation, and transient analysis.
•    Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
•    Leadership and mentorship skills for guiding other engineers internal and external.

Academic Qualifications and Certifications:

-    Bachelors or Masters degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline (required)
-    Licensed Professional Engineer (preferred)
-    Membership of a professional institution recognised as relevant to the data center sector (preferred)

Required Experience:
-    10 or more years of industry experience with minimum 5 years specifically in data centers.
-    Experience of working in multi-disciplinary design teams, preferably in a leading role.
-    Experience as design consultant / client engineer / operatins engineer / contractor engineering
-    International experience and outlook both in type of company and project experience.
-    Ideally has experience with hyperscale customers.

Physical Requirements:

•    Primarily sitting with some walking, standing, and bending.
•    Able to hear and speak into a telephone.
•    Close visual work on a computer.
•    Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate any required computer keyboard, mouse, and other technical instruments.
•    Ability to lift and carry up to 20 lbs.
•    Ability to climb ladders and worked on raised platforms.
 

Work Conditions & Other Requirements:

•    Office environment with extensive daily usage of a computer
•    Field work in mechanical and electrical infrastructure rooms, data floor spaces, outdoor and roof mounted equipment.
•    Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.
•    This position is expected to work primarily remotely.
•    Travel required up to 20% of the time. Some international travel is likely.
•    Must be willing to work to support a global business which may require an occasional meeting outside of typical regional business hours.

Compensation Pay Range

"This is a remote position that requires reliable internet connection and electricity. A monthly stipend is provided to cover expenses associated with working remotely and use of a personal mobile device.
NTT Global Data Centers Americas, Inc. offers competitive compensation based on experience, education, and location. Base salary for this position is $160,000 - $232,600.
All regular full-time employees are eligible for an annual bonus; payout is dependent upon individual and company performance.
