Join our Global Risk Management Group, where you'll play a key role in safeguarding the company, ensuring we deliver on our commitments to customers and stakeholders, and driving responsible growth. The Opportunity
The Operational Risk Management Lead Consultant will execute the ORM risk function by overseeing implementation of MetLife's Non-Financial Risk Management Framework for the Group Benefits business. ORM collaborates across Global Risk Management and actively engages business leaders, technology, operations, compliance, and first-line control functions to maintain an ongoing view of operational risk for the business, escalate potential concerns, and drive risk mitigation activities.
This position will play a key role in establishing and maintaining strategic partnerships while implementing an ongoing operating model to proactively identify, monitor, and manage operational risks in support of business strategic priorities.
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide risk governance oversight, ensuring compliance with risk management frameworks, policies, and risk appetite standards.
  • Serve as a strategic advisor to business leaders by identifying emerging risks, providing risk insights, and supporting informed decision-making.
  • Partner with business and control functions to design, implement, and monitor risk mitigation strategies, analytics, and risk tolerance measures.
  • Lead risk assessment activities, including monitoring risk events, issues, remediation efforts, and key risk/performance indicators.
  • Strengthen and operationalize risk management practices through consistent processes, training, stakeholder engagement, and integration of emerging technologies.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, with 7-10 years of experience in risk management, internal audit, control management, operations, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of the life insurance industry, risk management frameworks, and regulatory requirements.
  • Proven understanding of operational risk frameworks, control environments, and risk mitigation practices.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence, collaborate with, and build partnerships with senior stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with risk analytics, reporting, dashboards, and data-driven risk insights.
  • Knowledge of insurance or financial services regulatory requirements and industry expectations.
  • Exposure to emerging risk areas such as AI, automation, and digital transformation; professional certifications (CRMA, FRM, CPA, CIA, or equivalent) preferred.

The expected salary range for this position is $84,800 - $142,900 . This role may also be eligible for annual short-term incentive compensation and stock-based long-term incentives. All incentives and benefits are subject to the applicable plan terms.
