Summary:

We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated senior-level Cloud Engineer, responsible for designing, maintaining, and securing the hosting platform for two distinct global SaaS products. This role develops tools and services to streamline operations and the platform development experience, and brings subject matter expertise in cloud-native architecture and progressive delivery.

What You'll Do:

Technical Collaboration

- Define and promote cloud-native architectural patterns, and own adherence to them across the platform.

- Lead architecture decisions and design reviews, and act as the escalation point for complex problems.

- Foster a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and knowledge sharing within the team.

Platform Operations, Reliability & Availability

- Design, implement, and maintain a secure and scalable infrastructure platform hosting a myriad of services for a global SaaS organization.

- Own the service level objectives (SLOs) that underpin our internal and external SLAs, and ensure they are consistently met, with a focus on high availability, resilience, and scalability across the estate.

- Drive observability and monitoring improvements across infrastructure, platforms, and services to proactively identify and resolve issues.

- Drive capacity planning and cloud cost optimization initiatives.

Compliance & Security

- Apply and uphold relevant security and compliance frameworks (e.g., ISO/IEC 27001, SOC 2, FedRAMP, and NIST SP 800-53) in platform design and operations.

Automation, IaC

- Own the full solution design lifecycle — analysis, architecture, development, deployment, and ongoing operation.

- Drive the evolution of infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD, and progressive delivery to improve delivery speed, consistency, and reliability.

- Reduce operational toil through automation, self-service tooling, and standardization.

What You'll Need:

Technical Foundation

- 7+ years in infrastructure, platform, or cloud engineering, including 3+ years running Kubernetes in production.

- Deep understanding of software development methodologies and systems design.

- Experience in software development and large-scale SaaS operations.

- Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose issues across every layer of the stack, and drive incident resolution at the platform level.

Platform & Tooling

- Production experience with Kubernetes and other cloud-native technologies.

- Working knowledge of Kubernetes networking, covering CNI and network policy (e.g., Azure CNI, Cilium).

- Experience operating edge services — CDN, WAF, and DDoS protection (e.g., Cloudflare, Imperva, Azure Front Door).

- Deep experience using, operating, and developing on top of Azure cloud services.

- Strong command of infrastructure-as-code (e.g., Terraform, Bicep, ARM templates) and reusable IaC module design.

- Strong command of CI/CD pipelines and automation tooling.

- Advanced proficiency with observability and monitoring solutions (e.g., Azure Monitor, Prometheus, Datadog).

- Fluency in at least one general-purpose programming language (e.g., Python, Go) and strong shell scripting skills (e.g., Bash, PowerShell).

Compliance & Security

- Strong understanding of cloud security and compliance frameworks, with proven ability to align cloud environments to standards such as ISO/IEC 27001, SOC 2, and NIST SP 800-53.

Professional & Interpersonal

- Proven problem-solving skills and experience working collaboratively in a team environment.

- Highly responsible, self-motivated, and able to thrive in an energetic, fast-paced, high-growth environment.

- Effective communication skills to interact with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, and ability to produce clear documentation.

- Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to adapt to a constantly changing technical environment.

Education

- A bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as computer science or software engineering, or equivalent practical experience.

We'd Love to See:

- Experience with service mesh technologies (e.g., Istio, Linkerd).

- Hands-on experience operating a service within a FedRAMP authorization boundary.

- Experience building self-service tooling for product engineering teams.
