Certain states and localities require employers to post a reasonable estimate of salary range. A reasonable estimate of the current base salary range for this position is $108,000 - $135,000. Actual salary will be based on a variety of factors, including location, experience, skill set, performance, licensure and certification, and business needs. The range for this position in other geographic locations may differ. Certain positions may also be eligible for variable incentive compensation, such as bonuses or commissions, that is not included in the base salary.

  • Accountable for creating comprehensive technology platform solution designs that meet business solution requirements on IT projects.
  • Applies broad knowledge of IT standards, offerings and operational options to develop an implementation approach of technology solution alternatives.
  • Utilizes a broad portfolio-building approach, subject matter expertise and communication skills to create and present innovative solutions based on requirements.
  • Works on several key technologies across several disciplines.
  • Will ensure that the physical design and configuration of the delivered solutions are in direct alignment with the logical design; may act as lead/owner more than one time in the solution design stage within their discipline.
  • Participates with other technical teams in the exchange and transfer of technical knowledge, and in the development and evolution of IT standards, guidelines, solutions, planning and implementation.
  • Expected to promote the development and reuse of common solutions, components and services.
  • Collaborates with other domain-specific (application, infrastructure, or information) Engineers, Architects, Product Specialists, System Design Engineers and technologists to complete IT deliverables.
  • Works with other engineers, architects and product specialists to ensure that the products and components work together to meet the objectives and performance goals as defined in the requirements.
  • Serves as a technical advocate and is the voice for IT on the implementation strategy designed to address client business problems.
  • Responsible for the full lifecycle technical implementation, with SME participation in: solution evaluation and selection, buy vs. build decisions, business requirements impact analysis, refinement of early-phase project estimates which contribute to the business case, and implementation-level design.
  • Provides critical support for Solution Engineering design decisions during the plan, analyze, design, build, test, and deploy phases of an IT project. Education Minimum: Associate's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business or a related degree, or equivalent experience. Desired: Master's degree, or a combination of education and practical experience. License/Certification Desired: Project Management Professional (PMP) certification; other job-related certification. Experience Minimum: 5 years of IT engineering design and/or technical project implementation experience. Experience with multi-tier enterprise technology environments. Experience working with staff across diverse IT disciplines. Implementation experience with process design, information modeling, or system architecture within a core business area of a utility. Desired: Project Management IT experience. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and (Technical) Competencies
  • Good understanding, in a core business area of a utility, of how technology plays a key enabler/support role.
  • Good understanding of process design, information modeling, or system architecture within a core business area of a utility.
  • Good understanding of the Solution Engineering discipline, processes, concepts and best practices.
  • Good understanding of a core business area within a utility, in the application of one of the following: Application Architecture, SOA, Information Architecture, Data Management, Security, or Infrastructure technologies.
  • Exposure to creating or working with cross-functional IT professional individuals or teams.
  • Exposure to a process improvement discipline (i.e., Six Sigma) used within a technology-supported business process implementation.
