Who You Are:

This position is for a Network Engineer supporting the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Homeland Security Enterprise Network (HSEN). This position is a Performance Management / Network Monitoring Tools Engineer that is responsible for architecting, designing/developing, deploying and O&M of network management systems/tools for DHS HSEN. It requires a problem solver who is responsible for providing operations and incident support; to include developing, troubleshooting and restoring services to failed monitoring/reporting systems and applications.

What You’ll Do:

  • Provide network management systems expertise for a large enterprise network. 
  • Develop, enhance, tune and maintain network management tool suite for a Wide Area Network (WAN) with over 5,000 network devices. 
  • Work with customers, Operations teams and Engineering teams to determine requirements of tools and then develop and maintain tools as necessary as the network design changes. 
  • Develop technical project documentation to define the current and future architecture and system design based on submitted requirements by customers and stakeholders. 
  • Support troubleshooting and resolution of system issues when required. 
  • Support and evolve relationships with vendors to ensure maximum value of tools; understanding new offerings and/or upgrades and how it integrates with current environments

 What You’ll Bring:

  • BA/BS in relevant field; relevant experience may be a substitute for education.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Broadcom NetOps Network Management Tool Suite (Spectrum, CA Performance Management, Net Flow Analyzer (NFA))
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Microfocus Network Automation (HPNA) or similar Enterprise Configuration Management tools
  • Experience with or knowledge of NetScout a plus
  • Demonstrated knowledge of deploying, developing and maintaining servers, applications in a virtual environment
  • 5+ years of experience supporting, maintaining, and evolving a distributed enterprise network management systems
  • 5+ years of operations experience related to NMS tools for complex networks
  • Experience in creating technical documentation for technical projects
  • Experience with ServiceNow a plus
  • Strong tools customization and integration skills
  • Strong database, scripting and web front-end experience
  • Strong communication and reporting skills
  • Working knowledge of a variety of networking technologies to communicate and collaborate on issues and solutions with other engineers
  • Good knowledge of IT security related to networks and applications with solutions to mitigate those issues
  • Must be a self-starter, resourceful and able to manage time on projects effectively
  • Must be able to work evening change request windows and provide on-call support after normal business hours as required.
  • Must be able to work independently in fast paced, dynamic environment.
  • Must be proficient in English, both written and verbal, to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
  • Successful results of preemployment screenings, including federal background check, MVR, and drug screen.
  • Comply with company drug and alcohol policy.
  • Be authorized to work in the US or will be authorized by the successful candidate’s start date.

Compensation 

Expected Salary: $72,000 - $82,000 

Versar Global Solutions provides the compensation range and general description of other compensation and benefits that the Company in good faith believes it might pay and/or offer for this position based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities in addition to internal equity and geographic location. The Company reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s status protected by local, state, or federal law.

Location Requirements

The position will be a remote position, but the desired candidate will be located in the National Capital Region to go onsite if necessary.
