POSITION SUMMARY

The Manager, Marketing is an experienced individual contributor who manages and optimizes multi-channel marketing strategies and campaigns that support YMCA membership, program participation, fundraising and community engagement.

Working within established organizational goals, budgets and brand standards, this position exercises independent judgment in determining audience strategies, campaign approaches, channel selection, timing, prioritization and optimization. The Manager evaluates marketing needs, recommends solutions to internal partners, manages campaigns from planning through evaluation, and uses performance data to recommend improvements and inform future marketing decisions.

Working collaboratively with the Marketing and Communications team, executive directors and department leaders, this position serves as a marketing resource and advisor across membership, fundraising, youth development, sports, aquatics and other YMCA priorities.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/EXPECTATIONS

  • Email Marketing & Lead Automation: Develops and manages email strategy, calendars, audience segmentation, testing and automations; builds and deploys campaigns supporting membership, programs, fundraising and operational priorities.
  • Social Media: Develops organic social media strategies and content calendars; determines content approaches, evaluates trends, publishes content and adjusts strategies based on audience performance.
  • Paid Digital Media: Manages paid advertising campaigns across Google Ads, Meta and other digital networks; determines targeting and placements and optimizes approved campaign spending based on performance.
  • Website & Digital Presence: Manages routine website content updates and evaluates and recommends improvements to content, engagement and user experience.
  • Mobile App & SMS Marketing: Manages mobile app and SMS promotional calendars; determines appropriate audiences, timing and messaging approaches based on organizational priorities.
  • Analytics & Performance: Analyzes multi-channel marketing performance, maintains dashboards and reports, identifies trends and recommends strategies to improve campaign effectiveness and conversion.
  • Marketing Consultation & Prioritization: Advises executive directors and department leaders on marketing approaches and exercises independent judgment in prioritizing requests, channels, timing and resources.
  • Event & Promotional Support: Develops promotional approaches and coordinates marketing materials, merchandise and logistical support for YMCA and community events.
  • Brand Stewardship: Applies YMCA brand standards across marketing channels and advises internal partners on effective, inclusive and brand-aligned communications.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identifies opportunities to improve marketing systems, processes and campaigns and recommends appropriate use of emerging digital marketing practices and tools.
  • Project Management: Independently manages multiple projects, priorities and deadlines and resolves challenges within established organizational goals and parameters.
  • Organizational Support: Provides occasional evening and weekend support for events, programs and time-sensitive communications, including inclement weather updates.

Qualifications & Benefits

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, digital media or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training and relevant experience. Minimum of two years of experience managing digital marketing campaigns.
  • Digital Marketing: Experience with email marketing and automation, organic and paid social media, digital advertising, audience segmentation and campaign optimization.
  • Marketing Systems: Experience with email, social media management and paid advertising platforms; familiarity with content management systems and basic HTML.
  • Analytics: Working knowledge of GA4 and other digital analytics tools with the ability to interpret campaign performance and recommend improvements.
  • Communication & Project Management: Excellent writing, editing, proofreading, organization and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities independently.
  • Decision Making: Demonstrated ability to analyze information, exercise professional judgment and make recommendations within established organizational goals and parameters.
  • Creative Tools: Experience with Canva, Adobe Creative Cloud, CapCut or similar design and content creation tools.
  • Preferred: Experience with Google Tag Manager, Google Business Profiles and Daxko or similar membership/CRM systems.
