Job Description:

The QA Manager is a strategic and hands-on leader responsible for defining and implementing quality assurance standards and best practices across the IT organization. This includes overseeing QA processes for custom web and integration development, SaaS platforms, data pipelines, and infrastructure solutions. This role ensures high-quality outcomes across diverse technology stacks while leading the adoption of modern QA technology and tools in alignment with DevOps and agile methodologies.
This individual will serve as a proactive strategic partner to IT and business stakeholders, ensuring quality is embedded from ideation through delivery to support customer-focused, scalable solutions. The ideal candidate is an advocate for a quality-first culture, shift-left testing, quality engineering, and agile practices, with a strong ability to influence teams, scale QA maturity and explore emerging technologies to drive efficiency and innovation across IT.

Key Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions:

Strategy & Enablement

  • Define and drive a modern, scalable QA strategy across all IT functions (software development, data, SaaS applications, and integrations).
  • Develop quality strategies that flex across delivery models, recognizing when to apply Agile, hybrid, or traditional methodologies to ensure fit-for-purpose QA practices.
  • Introduce and govern standards for test planning, defect management, and release quality metrics.
  • Promote shift-left testing and early QA engagement in planning, design, and architecture phases.
  • Advocate for quality to be built into every phase of the solution lifecycle — from ideation and design to delivery and support.
  • Drive culture of innovation and collaboration to rapidly deliver high-quality products that achieve business results.
  • Champion automation as a foundational element of the QA strategy, enabling faster feedback loops and reliable, repeatable testing.
  • Use data and quality metrics to inform decision-making, support continuous improvement, and drive accountability for high-quality delivery.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in QA and testing; identify opportunities to evolve QA practices.

Team Development & Partnership

  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing, motivated, connected and engaged QA team.
  • Model a collaborative leadership style that demonstrates a growth mindset, emphasizes teamwork, values contributions, and encourages participation in achieving organizational goals.
  • Collaborate with development managers and business stakeholders to ensure consistent QA practices across teams.
  • Maintain a continuous improvement mindset to evaluate, evolve, and calibrate QA practices and team performance.

Tools, Technology & Delivery Quality

  • Design and develop comprehensive test strategies, frameworks, and methodologies to for QA across APIs, ETL pipelines, databases, Salesforce, ServiceNow, and other SaaS platforms.
  • Leverage AI and ML-based QA tools to enhance test case generation, regression testing, and defect prediction.
  • Oversee QA planning and execution efforts, with the ability to step in and participate hands-on when needed to support team capacity or unblock issues.
  • Ensure QA processes are aligned with agile delivery models and CI/CD pipelines to support efficient and reliable releases, while integrating with DevOps practices where applicable.

Required Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of experience in QA or Quality Engineering, including leadership of distributed teams.
  • Strong leadership skills with a track record of coaching and mentoring high-performing teams.
  • Hands-on experience testing across diverse platforms: web applications, APIs, data pipelines, data warehouses, and SaaS platforms like Salesforce and ServiceNow.
  • Proven success implementing test automation frameworks (UI, API, DB) using tools such as Selenium, Postman, Cypress, or Playwright.
  • Experience supporting both Agile and traditional (e.g., waterfall or hybrid) delivery models, with an ability to tailor QA processes accordingly.
  • Customer-focused mindset with an understanding of how quality impacts end-user experience and business value.
  • Demonstrated ability to leverage data and metrics to drive decisions and improvements.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; highly detail-oriented.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build trust and drive cross-functional alignment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficient in tools such as Azure DevOps, Jira, Git, Postman, Swagger, Wiki, SharePoint, and Microsoft Teams.
  • Familiarity with AI-enhanced testing tools or techniques (e.g., test impact analysis, self-healing tests).
  • Experience non-functional testing such as performance, concurrency and load testing.
  • Experience in a regulated or compliance-heavy industry.
  • Professional Certifications in DevOps, Agile, SAFe, ITIL or related disciplines.
