The Opportunity

TECKpert’s client, a government agency, is seeking a dedicated and skilled Computer/Information Technology Support Specialist to support their voluntary education program on base with the Space Force. This is a vital role in ensuring the seamless operation of critical technology systems for service member progression. The Computer/Information Technology Support Specialist will provide comprehensive hardware and software system administration, networking support, and general IT assistance for an education and training center. This role involves maintaining existing infrastructure, implementing updates, and coordinating IT-related services to ensure continuous and efficient operations.

Job duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Administer hardware and software systems for approximately computers, servers (Windows 2012 Server to present), peripherals and networking equipement.
  • Provide weekly updates and maintenance for the education center webpage, SharePoint, and social media accounts, including updating links, building pages, linking documents, and managing layout.
  • Implement mandated software updates and set up new computers and information systems within three duty days of receipt.
  • Offer biannual networking architecture recommendations and ongoing networking support to maintain and enhance infrastructure.
  • Establish procedures for safeguarding and tracking commercial IT infrastructure, designing redundancies for uninterrupted services.
  • Maintain the current camera security system, ensuring full operational status, identifying malfunctions, and completing repairs within three workdays or escalating as needed.
  • Develop and maintain a tracking system with documentation for all information systems (servers and network environment) and manage lifecycle plans, including facility diagrams and associated databases.
  • Assist annually with researching and purchasing information systems and components to improve existing IT structure, based on the tracking database.
  • Respond to system malfunctions within 24 hours, provide diagnostic solutions.
  • Coordinate, configure, set up, and operate audio, video, and computer hardware and software daily in conference rooms, meeting rooms, classrooms, and other designated areas.
  • Develop and maintain an IT continuity binder covering daily operations, troubleshooting, common problems/fixes, and the tracking system.

Compensation and Term 

This opportunity is for a part-time, contract position  (24-30 hours a week) with possible extensions and pay commensurate with experience up to $35 per hour. Medical, dental, vision and life insurance available after 30 days of hire.

Qualifications you need

A successful candidate has the following experience:

  • Degrees: Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, or Software Engineering.
  • Minimum of one year of current experience with hardware and software applications.
  • Must poess one or more certifications including: A+ (Basic), Network + (Basic), Security+ (Intermediate), CISA (Advanced), CND (Intermediate), GFACT (Intermediate), GICSP (Advanced), GSEC (Intermediate), FITSP-O (Advanced), SSCP (Advanced), CCNP Security (Advanced), SecurityX/CASP+ (Advanced).
  • Ability to lift 25 pounds.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance within 6 months of start.
Work Schedule:
  • Part-time: 20 hours per week, Monday-Thursday, between 7:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m..
  • ​​​​​​​No work on Federal holidays or outside normal hours.
