Position Summary
The Senior IT Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and optimizing the organization’s IT infrastructure. This role ensures the availability, performance, and security of core systems, networks, servers, cloud platforms, and related technologies. The Senior Engineer also serves as a technical lead, mentoring junior engineers, driving automation, and collaborating across teams to align infrastructure strategy with business goals.
(This is an temporary position for about 6 months)
Key Responsibilities
Design & Architecture
o Lead the design, deployment, and scaling of enterprise infrastructure (servers, storage, networking, virtualization, and cloud services).
o Evaluate emerging technologies and provide recommendations to modernize IT infrastructure.
Implementation & Maintenance
o Administer and support Windows/Linux servers, virtualization platforms (VMware/Hyper-V), and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
o Manage enterprise networking components (LAN, WAN, VPN, firewalls, load balancers, wireless).
o Oversee storage, backup, and disaster recovery solutions to ensure business continuity.
Security & Compliance
o Implement and enforce security best practices across infrastructure systems.
o Partner with security teams to ensure compliance with governance, risk, and regulatory requirements (e.g., SOX, NIST).
Automation & Optimization
o Develop scripts, automation, and Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) for efficient provisioning and management.
o Monitor system performance and proactively optimize for cost, scalability, and reliability.
Collaboration & Leadership
o Act as a subject matter expert (SME) for infrastructure projects and escalations.
o Mentor and guide junior engineers and administrators.
o Collaborate with application, security, and business teams to align infrastructure strategy with organizational goals.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
- 7+ years of experience in IT infrastructure engineering or administration.
- Strong expertise with:
- High proficiency in Microsoft, Entra ID and Azure technologies, operating system and application migrations, monitoring systems, orchestration and automation, and security technologies.
- Good knowledge using ITSM tools such as ServiceNow.
- Hands-on experience with automation tools (PowerShell, Python, Ansible, Terraform, or similar).
- Knowledge of ITIL processes and enterprise monitoring tools (Nagios, Splunk, etc.).
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills.
IAM: Okta SSO/MFA, Okta Workflows & Policies, Entra ID/Azure
Servers & OS: Windows Server, Linux (Red Hat, Ubuntu, or CentOS).
Virtualization & Cloud: VMware, AWS, Azure, or GCP.
Networking: TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing, switching, VPN, firewalls.
Storage & Backup: SAN/NAS, replication, disaster recovery tools.
Preferred Certifications
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator / Solutions Architect
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect (Associate or Professional)
- VMware VCP (VMware Certified Professional)
- Cisco CCNP or equivalent networking certification
- ITIL Foundation or higher
