LFL in Partnership with Illumend
LFL is closely collaborating with illumend, an AI-first partnership acceleration platform that’s building solutions in the insurance sector. The partnership leverages 15 years of insurance compliance expertise with LFL's creative technology and applied AI capabilities. The Illumend platform aims to make meaningful risk management accessible to all businesses by providing an intuitive interface for non-insurance professionals to track compliance.
Who We Are Seeking
Left Field Labs is partnering with Illumend to find their Head of Marketing to own the launch of a category-defining AI solution in an underserved market. This is a unique, ground-floor opportunity with a high-growth trajectory. You will operate with the autonomy and energy of a 10-person startup, backed by the infrastructure and credibility of a proven parent company.
ResponsibilitiesWhat You Will Do
As a key leader on this team, you'll be instrumental in shaping and executing the marketing strategy from the ground up. You will:
- Develop and lead a full-funnel marketing strategy to build top-of-funnel demand and guide customers through the entire journey in the product-led growth (PLG) and sales-led hybrid environment.
- Be a hands-on builder and operator, creating and managing campaigns, developing compelling content, and managing external partners. You are not afraid to get in the weeds to execute and will lead by example.
- Drive growth with a data-driven approach, using key performance metrics and analytics to prioritize initiatives, track what’s working, and quickly correct to achieve business goals.
- Leverage an AI-native mindset to enhance the go-to-market motions, applying emerging tools and technologies to increase velocity, automate tasks, and drive results faster.
- Build a scalable marketing foundation by overhauling the tech stack and implementing modern, efficient systems.
- Act as a strong people leader by coaching and managing a team, setting clear expectations, and providing candid feedback to ensure accountability and growth.
- Collaborate with the C-suite to translate business goals into marketing actions and effectively communicate insights and results to leadership.
- Lead with a future-focused vision, identifying market trends and building innovative strategies that position illumend for long-term success.
What You Will Need to be Successful
- 7+ years of B2B SaaS marketing experience, with a track record of success in VC, growth equity, or private equity-backed companies.
- Demonstrated ability to build and scale full-funnel marketing programs from the ground up, with a focus on demand generation and top-of-funnel growth.
- Experience launching or growing a product in a product-led growth (PLG) or hybrid sales-led + PLG environment.
- Proven success crafting and executing thought leadership and brand strategies that drive awareness and credibility.
- Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, zero-to-one environment, with a test-and-learn mindset and bias toward action.
- Strong analytical skills and a data-driven approach to decision-making, campaign optimization, and performance measurement.
- Experience reporting to and collaborating with executive leadership; able to translate company vision into actionable marketing strategy and outcomes.
- Skilled people manager and coach, with experience leading internal team members and managing external partners or vendors to high performance.
- Excellent communicator with the ability to distill complex concepts and market insights into simple, compelling narratives.
- Exceptionally strong organizational and project management skills. Proven ability to manage complex, fast-moving marketing initiatives from strategy through execution. Prioritizes effectively, drives multiple workstreams forward, meets deadlines, and maintains focus on the highest-impact efforts amidst competing demands.
- Fluent in leveraging AI to drive marketing outcomes. Actively explores and integrates AI tools to accelerate workflows, generate insights, and automate repetitive tasks. Sees AI not as a trend but as a strategic lever to increase velocity, enhance content creation, and improve decision-making.
- Demonstrated success building a modern marketing foundation from the ground up, including rethinking the tech stack and developing strategy tailored to a company’s unique stage, product, and goals.
- Mission-driven mindset and authentic interest in building a product that helps businesses mitigate real-world risk.
The salary range for this role is $175,000 to $200,000 and applies only to jobs performed in Culver City, California. This range represents the lowest to highest salary we reasonably and in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. Please note that we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. An employee’s position within the salary range will be based on several factors, including but not limited to relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.
