Job Description:

The Global Strategic Sourcing Manager develops and executes global sourcing strategies that strengthen supplier capability, reduce risk, and support business objectives.

This role partners cross-functionally to resolve supply challenges, improve sourcing outcomes, and provide timely technical and financial insight.

Essential Functions

  • Develop and execute global sourcing strategies, including supplier selection, qualification, rationalization, benchmarking, TCO, and risk mitigation.

  • Lead supplier relationships, contracts, pricing agreements, performance assessments, and assigned category management activities.

  • Deliver cost reductions through market analysis, cost modeling, competitive sourcing, make-versus-buy analysis, and global spend leverage.

  • Build supplier and market intelligence to support sourcing strategy, capability assessment, and business planning.

  • Drive lean transformation and continuous improvement across category procurement processes.

  • Execute cost reduction projects, negotiations, process changes, and sustainable cost controls.

  • Analyze suppliers to optimize supply chain performance and mitigate assurance-of-supply risks.

  • Share sourcing best practices and support team development and continuous improvement.

  • Maintain confidentiality, protect company assets, act ethically, and comply with all applicable laws and regulations.

  • Work with engineering teams to understand product requirements and manufacturing options for component sourcing.

  • Evaluate supplier capabilities to support current needs and future product roadmaps.

  • Manage sourcing through new product development, launch readiness, and supplier reporting.

Requirements/Qualifications:

Required Qualifications

  • BS/BA in Supply Chain Management, Materials Management, Engineering, Business, or related field.

  • 15+ years’ experience in global strategic sourcing management.

  • Strong global procurement experience using strategic sourcing methods across supplier selection, risk/compliance, negotiation, roadmap alignment, and financial analysis.

  • Demonstrated experience and achievement in sourcing solutions.

  • Excellent relationship management and collaboration skills across suppliers, internal customers, engineering, marketing, and senior management.

  • Strong negotiation skills, including international sourcing experience.

  • Proven ability to drive positive change and build strong stakeholder relationships.

  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across multi-functional teams.

  • Self-starter who can build sourcing/procurement credibility within groups not accustomed to working with procurement.

  • Experience operating within fast-paced business.

  • Critical Thinking, Problem-Solving Skills, and Strong Communication Skills.

  • Proficiency with ERP systems, MS Office, Advanced Excel, and MS Project; Microsoft Dynamics experience a plus.

  • Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally, as required (approx. 20%).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Preferred certifications: ISM C.P.M., CPSM, APICS CSCP/CPIM, or equivalent.

We offer a total compensation package that ranks among the best in the industry. It consists of competitive base pay, restricted stock units, and quarterly bonus payments. Benefits of working at Microchip

The annual base salary range for this position, which could be performed in the US, is $89,000-$206,000.*

*Range is dependent on numerous factors including job location, skills and experience.
