Job Description: Senior Manager, IT Finance

Role: Senior Manager, Technology Finance
Reports To: Sr. Director, Finance
Location: Denver, CO (Casa Del Mundo)

Position Summary

We are seeking a strategic and experienced Senior Manager, Technology Finance to lead the financial oversight of DaVita’s Technology organization. This is a high-visibility leadership role responsible for managing the IT “Lane” financials (G&A expenses to maintain current business capabilities), a portfolio exceeding $450M+ in annual spend.

As a Senior Manager, you will serve as the primary strategic finance partner to the CIO and Vice Presidents, driving fiscal discipline, optimizing “Run” costs to fuel innovation, and leading a high-performing team of finance professionals. You will act as a key advisor on financial risks and opportunities, influencing decision-making at the executive level.

Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic Financial Leadership & Executive Partnership

  • Executive Partnering: Act as the CFO-designate for specific domains (e.g., Infrastructure, Enterprise Architecture, Security, Office of CTO), advising VPs and Directors on financial performance, risks, and strategic trade-offs.

  • Lane Strategy: Drive the financial strategy for “Run” operations, identifying macro-trends in IT spend (SaaS inflation, labor mix, cloud migration) and partnering with leadership to execute cost-optimization initiatives.

  • Storytelling: Lead the narrative for Monthly Financial Reviews and Quarterly Business Reviews with the CIO, translating complex financial data into actionable business insights and strategic recommendations.

2. Financial Planning & Analysis

  • Annual Operating Plan: Lead the end-to-end annual budgeting process for Technology Lanes, orchestrating complex models for labor (FTE/Contractor mix), software licensing, and hardware maintenance across the enterprise.

  • Forecasting Precision: Own the monthly and quarterly forecast cycles, driving high-accuracy projections for G&A while managing risks and opportunities proactively.

  • Spend Optimization: Partner with Vendor Management (VMO) and Procurement to analyze major contracts (e.g., Oracle, Microsoft, ServiceNow), ensuring optimal deal structures and budget alignment.

3. Team Leadership & Development

  • People Leadership: Manage, mentor, and develop a team of 4-6 finance professionals (Senior Analysts and Analysts). Foster a culture of accountability, continuous learning, and high engagement.

  • Process Transformation: Champion process improvements to streamline reporting, automate manual workflows (leveraging Anaplan/Oracle), and enhance the speed and quality of financial close and reporting.

Qualifications

  • Experience: 7+ years of progressive experience in Finance or Accounting, with at least 3+ years in management or lead capacity. Experience supporting Technology organizations or large P&L management is strongly preferred.

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field; MBA or CPA/CMA is highly valued.

  • Technical Expertise: Deep proficiency in financial modeling (Excel), presentation building (PowerPoint), and financial systems (e.g., Anaplan, Oracle, Hyperion/Essbase).

  • Strategic Agility: Proven ability to “connect the dots” between operational metrics and financial outcomes, with the confidence to challenge senior leadership constructively.

  • Leadership: Demonstrated success in leading teams through change, managing competing priorities, and developing talent to the next level.

Core Competencies

  • Strategic Mindset: Sees the big picture and adjusts financial strategies to support broader organizational goals.

  • Influence: Ability to persuade and align stakeholders at the VP/Director level without direct authority.

  • Operational Excellence: Drives rigor in financial processes, ensuring data integrity and timely delivery of all financial commitments.
