General Purpose
The Finance Specialist is responsible for collecting and recording financial information, as well as ensuring account balances are up to date, enabling members of the financial staff to monitor budgets, spending, and profits.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities

- Records and retrieves financial entries from the financial database, including payments to other financial institutions.
- Assists in oversight and accounting functions for the investment portfolio.
- Checks and corrects accounting computations.
- Prepares basic internal financial reports and conducts periodic reconciliations.
- Runs reports and other routine accounting activities, including daily cash management and other functions related to funds held/managed by other financial institutions and vendors.
- Assists the financial team’s professional staff in all areas to ensure productivity.
- Supports internal financial reporting to various committees, management, and the Board of Directors.
- Supports liquidity management and assists with investment portfolio management/accounting.
- Regular and reliable on-site attendance is required as an essential function of this position.
- Performs other duties as assigned or requested.

Job Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills, and Ability:
- Detail oriented with exceptional organizational skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work successfully as a team player.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications such as Microsoft Office products, Adobe Acrobat Pro, and various other computer systems.
- Strong mathematical skills to maintain and balance accounts, verify computations, post journal entries, receive and deposit funds, and prepare journal entries.
- Ability to rely on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Plus an ability to quickly learn new tasks and establish guidelines as needed.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to multitask and stay calm under pressure makes for a valuable employee.
Education or Formal Training:
- High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) equivalency required.
- Additional college courses in Finance or Accounting preferred.
Experience:
- One - two (1-2) years of experience working as a bookkeeper or similar preferred.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.
Working Conditions
Working Environment:
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. May include some after hours support, to meet end-of-day requirements.
Physical Activities:
These are representative of those which must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required; it would require the ability to reach for and lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus. Employee may have to lift up to 25 pounds.

Starting Rate of Pay is from $20.50 to $25.50, depending on experience and base home location.
