Job DescriptionAECOM is seeking a highly motivated Electrical Engineering Discipline Lead with electrical engineering and instrumentation & controls background to be based in Denver, Colorado to support mining projects and to help lead and build a team of electrical engineers to support mining projects.
Job Summary/Responsibilities
- Provides technical leadership for a specialty and is a fully capable professional in their field.
- Applies intensive and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices in broad areas of assignments and related fields. Make decisions independently on technical problems and methods and represent the organization in conferences.
- Resolves important questions and plans and coordinates work.
- Requires the use of advanced techniques and the modifications and extension of theories, precepts and practices of the field and related sciences and disciplines.
- The knowledge and expertise required for this level of work usually result from progressive experience.
- Receives direction on unusual conditions and developments.
- Provides project leadership in the areas of instrumentation & controls, electrical engineering and design, investigations, analysis on multi-disciplinary mining projects.
- Serve as lead electrical engineer or discipline lead on mid- to large size projects.
- Coordinate and direct staff on designs, specifications, drawings, figures, reports and calculations on multi-discipline design efforts.
- Work with existing and potential clients to provide instrumentation & controls, electrical engineering and design solutions for mining projects.
- Develop project proposals and work with mining business leader to support and grow the Mining practice.
- Provides direction and mentoring to technical staff in completing project tasks.
- Supervision and guidance relate largely to overall objectives, critical issues, new concepts, and policy matters.
- Provides specialized technical input to studies and design for staff's specific area of expertise.
- Provides technical expertise for studies and design efforts.
- Presents complex technical solutions to clients.
- Performs independent technical reviews of engineering reports and design and signs off on work.
- Plan, schedule, conduct or coordinate detailed phases of the engineering project, focusing on the electrical and Instrumentation and control designs of mine projects.
- Provides advice and consultation to clients on engineering matters, including compliance with government laws and regulations.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree + 8 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
- Valid U.S. Driver’s License
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain within 6 months of starting.
Preferred Qualifications
- On-site field experience in commissioning and start-ups for facilities
- Masters in electrical engineering or related field of study
- 10+ years or more of relevant experience
- MSHA New Miner training
- Demonstrated progressive experience in electrical engineering, design, modeling, and construction documentation.
- Progressive project experience including task leadership and project management roles on design and design-build projects.
- Ability to serve as primary point of contact with the client and develop client relationships.
- Lead designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, construction specifications, and final working drawings.
- Work with CAD designers to produce construction-level drawings.
- Strong written and oral communication, quantitative and people skills
- Strong work ethic and professional demeanor.
- Initiative-taking on assignments and demonstrate initiative.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, and complete multiple technical tasks under tight deadlines.
- Estimate and scope electrical engineering projects.
- Perform work in accordance with agreed upon scope, budget, and schedule.
- Track and manage task budgets and schedules.
- Author reports and prepare/or direct preparation of detailed calculation packages including proper documentation and references.
- Must be resourceful, highly organized, professional with attention to detail and people.

- Willingness to travel to domestic and international locations for projects.
