Reports to VP, Business Strategy and Co-Founder

Swamp Club is looking for someone ready to own marketing end-to-end, build and execute the marketing plan, and steward the Swamp brand. We want you to be willing and able to transform how marketing works by leveraging AI in the most maximal way. Not AI slop, but AI-enabled marketing. We build software for builders: the person who shows up with something to build, and who shares what works and what doesn't with a network of peers. The first rule of Swamp Club is to tell all of your friends about Swamp Club. We're looking for the person who makes sure the whole world hears about it.

You'd partner with our founders on everything that promotes Swamp. We have a lot to work with: thousands of builders, a community that communicates by writing, an ecosystem of extensions, customers solving real business problems, and a deep understanding of how people actually use what we build. You'll turn all of it into amplification. We are a small team, maximizing the use of AI at every level of the business. There’s a lot of work to do, and you can’t wait to do it.

What You'd Do On A Given Day
  • Work with the founding team. We have an experienced founding team that’s worked in developer tools and automation and is at the frontier of building with AI. Translating their beliefs into various types of marketing content is paramount.

  • Communicate. We're in constant communication to maximize creativity and output by staying aligned. That means you're interacting with the team all day on Discord — in chat, voice, 1:1, and having micro conversations throughout the day.

  • Live in the data. We know a lot about how people use Swamp, what they build, and what brings them back. You'll dig into it every day to find the stories worth telling, the people worth featuring, and the moments worth building around.

  • Steward the brand. Swamp has a point of view and a vibe. You'll make sure everything we put into the world carries both, and that people recognize it when they see it.

  • Amplify our builders and customers. The people using Swamp are doing great work. You'll find it, get it in front of the right people, and make the builders behind it the heroes of the story.

  • Produce our podcasts. We record a podcast every week. You’ll use tools to edit it, clip it, and ensure it’s everywhere it should be. We’re also launching a community podcast, and you’ll run it from the first guest on.

  • Run our events. Swamp Club isn’t just a website, it’s an experience. You’ll develop a point of view and define how that experience translates into real life.

  • Keep Swamp in the conversation. Something should go out every day. You'll figure out what we could be posting, where we should be posting it, and who should post it, then rally everyone to make it happen.

  • Make a lot of bets. AI lets you quickly see whether something is worth pursuing. You’ll constantly be making a hypothesis, testing it, and measuring.

What Matters / Qualifications

What you’ll bring:

  • Start-up experience. You have built a marketing function from zero and can both set strategy and execute it.

  • Right role, right company. You can clearly articulate why you are at the point in your career to run marketing end-to-end, for this product, at this company.

  • Breadth of Marketing. You have experience with SEM/SEO, Content and Digital Marketing, Product Marketing, etc., and can help build strategy and execute around each.

  • Obsession with data. You crave knowledge of who your audience is, what they're doing, and what's working, and use this as an unfair advantage to tell a story no one else can.

  • Brand stewardship. You've grown a brand that people recognize and want to be part of, and you know how to give it a larger voice.

  • Program experience. You've run events, podcasts, or launches end to end, and you care about every detail.

  • Online all of the time. You know what's happening in AI and developer tools, and you have a strong point of view on how we should react.

  • Taste and Judgment. Understanding our users, customers, and community is paramount. You need to grok the Swamp Club vibe and want to dig in on enhancing it.

  • AI fluency. AI is how you get your work done. You use AI tools to maximize your impact. You are up to speed on the latest trends and can communicate intelligently with a technical audience at the frontier of building with AI.

  • Industry contacts/know how. You understand the current market, media and analysts that are moving the needle, podcasts that we should be on, etc.

  • Writing skills. You can write exceptionally well, clearly and concisely.

Interview Process

First, on paper. Send us your resume or LinkedIn and a note about how to get noticed when the frontier labs are sucking all of the oxygen out of the room, and how you’d use AI to do it. We’d love to better understand why this role, product, and company are intriguing to you.

Then, a conversation. An initial call with the hiring leader. We’ll talk about what you’ve built. What you’re proud of. What you’ve owned, end to end. What worked, what didn’t, and why. This goes both ways; we want you to have enough context to decide whether this is the right role for you to continue to pursue.

Finally, the real thing. A proper interview loop with 4 of the 5 founders. Bring a bet: something you’d try in your first month, how you’d test it, and what you’d hope to learn from it. We want to see how you think, how you’d collaborate to ground the hypothesis, and how you would instrument the process so you have real results to go on.

Compensation and Benefits
  • Annual Salary: $175K - $220K

  • You can live anywhere in the US, as long as you work Pacific hours (8 AM to 5 PM). Life still happens during the day, like school runs, appointments and errands. Just let the team know when you're stepping away

    • Up to twice a year, you'll join the team in person for Work Together Week at a location we choose

  • Stock Option range: 0.15% - 0.25% Fully Diluted

  • Medical, Dental, Vision, 401(k), and other offerings. We are a small company with big company benefits provided by Deel PEO

    • Please request details if you would like to know more

  • A non-accrual PTO Plan, a/k/a “unlimited”. We recommend a week off every quarter when you're completely offline

  • A generous budget to meet your home office and equipment needs. Just articulate what you need, and we’ll take care of it

We actively promote a sense of belonging and full participation in our practices and policies for our co-workers, partners, and customers.
