About Magna

Magna Legal Services is a distributed business, and Microsoft 365 is how our people work: email, files, meetings, collaboration, and the security wrapped around all of it. When it works well, nobody notices. When it doesn't, work stops, and the people on the other end are professionals who need it fixed fast.

We're looking for a technology leader to take ownership of that platform — and the Azure cloud and infrastructure underneath it — and to lead and grow the people who keep it running.

Position overview

You'll be accountable for the availability, security, and usefulness of Magna's IT systems, with Microsoft 365 at the center. That means owning the platform's strategy and roadmap, making sure it's secure and well governed, and making sure our people actually get value from it — not just that it's switched on.

You'll partner with operations leadership to understand what the business needs, work with the VP of IT and Technology leadership to set priorities and policies, and coordinate with our Information Security Officer on data security and resiliency. You'll also oversee the Azure and infrastructure environments behind Microsoft 365 and our business-critical applications, and manage the vendors and partners we rely on.

You'll lead a geographically distributed IT team, and a big part of your job is raising the level of the whole organization — developing your people, standardizing how we work, and leading by example.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Own the strategy, roadmap, and day-to-day operation of Microsoft 365 — Exchange Online, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams, and other Applications — along with identity, security, and device management
  • Oversee the Azure cloud and core infrastructure that support Microsoft 365 and business-critical applications, working with our systems and cloud engineers
  • Partner with operations leadership to turn business needs into practical, cost-effective solutions
  • Work with the VP of IT and technology leadership to set priorities, policies, and standard operating procedures
  • Coordinate with the Information Security Officer to keep data secure and systems resilient
  • Manage relationships with IT vendors and partners, including Microsoft and managed service providers
  • Look for ways to add value, improve efficiency, and cut costs — including Microsoft 365 licensing and adoption
  • Develop and coach your team, and build standardized, documented, cross-trained ways of working
  • Keep end-user and technology support consistent across headquarters and our business units
  • Maintain accurate inventories of IT assets and licenses, and monitor compliance with regulatory and contractual requirements
  • Establish and maintain our disaster recovery and business continuity program for your areas of responsibility

Desired Background

    Required qualifications

  • 10+ years designing, supporting, deploying, and evolving technology platforms, infrastructure, and solutions
  • 5+ years managing diverse and rapidly evolving IT platforms and services
  • 5+ years of Microsoft platform management and administration, including Microsoft 365
  • 5+ years managing technology teams in a diverse, geographically distributed business
  • Deep knowledge of the Microsoft stack — SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams, Power BI, and Office desktop and mobile applications
  • Experience supporting Microsoft 365 users in a distributed, highly mobile business
  • Experience building and maintaining secure, highly available cloud environments (Azure; AWS a plus)
  • A proven ability to translate business requirements into solution strategies in partnership with senior business leaders
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication, and a collaborative style with peer IT leaders
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Information Sciences or a similar field, or equivalent experience
  • Preferred qualifications

  • Microsoft 365 or other Microsoft certifications
  • A deep understanding of the Azure / Microsoft 365 security model and group and policy structures
  • Experience with Intune/EMS, Purview information protection, Defender, and Entra ID
  • Experience moving on-premises systems to the cloud (Azure; AWS a plus)
  • Experience with data security standards and regulations relevant to the legal industry
  • Experience in a legal or regulated business environment, including handling highly secure and confidential client data

Key Characteristics

  • Ability to multitask using time management skills such as prioritizing, organizing, tracking details, and meeting deadlines on multiple projects with varying completion dates.
  • Mature and self-motivated professional able to work in a fast-paced and constantly changing environment.
  • Collaborative problem solver and solution champion.
  • Strong sense of intellectual curiosity and interest in understanding business objectives and how technology can be leveraged.
  • Passionate about creative, cost-effective solutions to business problems and opportunities.
  • Active engagement in and understanding of the business — as a partner and collaborator with operational management.
  • Capability to work as an effective and collaborative member of a distributed IT leadership team.
  • A keen focus on customer satisfaction and high-quality service delivery, with strong interpersonal skills, responsiveness, and outstanding written and verbal communication skills.

The team

You'll report to the VP of IT. Your day-to-day partners:

  • The CTO and peer Technology leadership — for priorities, policies, and shared solutions
  • The Information Security Officer — for data security, resiliency, and compliance
  • Operations leadership and business units — for requirements and rollout
  • Your IT team and our vendors and partners — for delivery

Logistics

  • Full-time, exempt
  • Travel to company locations as needed — up to 20%
  • Specific title flexible based on profile and experience
