Summary:
The Denver Post is looking for an innovative Digital Strategist passionate about growing local news audiences. This role is perfect for a tech-savvy journalist with a strong grasp of SEO and social media, excellent news judgment, and a love for data. You'll join a dynamic team focused on digital subscription growth, promoting content ranging from breaking news to sports, entertainment and special projects, all while enjoying Colorado's Rocky Mountain lifestyle with a 4/10 work schedule (10-hour shifts four days per week). The schedule for this role involves working nights, weekends and some holidays.
This is a remote role; however, candidates must reside in the Denver area or be willing to relocate.
What you will do:
Generate content ideas, edit copy, and optimize content for both search engines and social media platforms
Set goals and track key metrics such as pageviews, subscriptions, newsletter open rates, and click-to-open rates (CTOR)
Collaborate with other departments to develop audience-focused story ideas and strategies
Write, edit, and produce engaging newsletters
Craft interesting and compelling copy for various social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, Bluesky, Threads, and others
Utilize design tools like Canva to create well-designed content for Instagram grid posts and stories
Employ keyword research and past site analytics to inform both story scope and SEO strategies
Work with platforms such as Marfeel, GA4, Listrak, and Socialflow to optimize content, send newsletters, and gather analytics
Actively seek out unique opportunities to cultivate a more engaged Denver Post readership
What you will bring:
At least 2 years of daily newspaper or digital news and social media experience
A college degree or equivalent experience
Experience with newsletters, push alerts, SEO and analytics
An eye for grammar, spelling, and punctuation
Experience in breaking news situations
A keen eye for trending story topics to share with assigning editors
Experience with copyediting, sports coverage, and short-form video on TikTok and Reels is a plus.
Benefits and Compensation:
The hourly wage range is $20.90 - $35.43. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, time in role, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, the Company offers eligible employees a variety of benefits including medical, dental, life and disability insurance, 401k, as well as paid time off and select paid holidays (all benefits are based on eligibility).
