Here’s what we need:
We are seeking a mission-driven Senior Digital Marketing Strategist to lead high-impact digital campaigns that inspire action, deepen donor relationships, and drive fundraising growth. This role is ideal for a strategic thinker with a strong background in nonprofit fundraising, digital communications, and audience-centric content development, particularly in the context of Pillar Campaigns (ex. year-end, seasonal appeals, holiday based campaigns, issue-based appeals).
The successful candidate will leverage best-in-class digital tactics to support diverse fundraising goals and audience journeys, while ensuring content is cohesive across the supporter lifecycle, from awareness to conversion and retention.
Here’s what you’ll do:
- Digital Fundraising Strategy, Audience Segmentation & Journey Mapping, Content & Campaign Development, Team Collaboration & Leadership
- Develop and maintain a content calendar aligned with marketing and fundraising goals, in coordination with the digital marketing content manager.
- Design and execute integrated digital fundraising campaigns tailored to key donor segments: one-time donors, monthly sustainers, major donors, peer-to-peer participants, and lapsed supporters.
- Develop supporter journeys that align with organizational Pillar Campaigns, including but not limited to: Year-End Giving, Giving Tuesday, Emergency Response Appeals, Recurring Giving Recruitment, Legacy Giving Education, Stewardship/Mission Awareness Campaigns.
- Partner with Development, Communications, PR, and Local Divisional teams to curate content, align messaging, timing, and targeting across channels
- Create targeted strategies for diverse audience groups including individual donors, activists, volunteers, advocates, corporate partners, and prospective supporters.
- Apply segmentation based on giving history, engagement level, demographics, and interest areas to deliver personalized, relevant content.
- Lead the creation of compelling, mission-aligned digital content including landing pages, email series, ads, social assets, and lightbox modals, particularly for key Pillar Campaigns.
- Work closely with designers, copy writers, and program leads to ensure message consistency and emotional resonance across supporter touchpoints.
- Apply storytelling, urgency, and value proposition techniques to drive engagement and action.
- Own digital channel planning across email/SMS and Web (Organic Social, Lightbox, Donation Pages, Landing Pages) while coordinating with paid media (SEM, Paid Social, Display), and Direct Mail vendor, with emphasis on fundraising performance.
- Coordinate timing and messaging cadence across multiple channels to reduce donor fatigue and maximize conversion windows.
- Recommend and implement A/B tests across email, landing pages, and ads to improve open rates, CTR, conversion, and retention metrics.
- Regularly review campaign data to optimize audience journeys, frequency, and content based on performance insights.
- Present campaign results, learnings, and strategic recommendations to internal and client stakeholders.
- Mentor junior digital staff or agency partners on digital fundraising tactics and best practices.
- Act as the digital lead within cross-functional campaign teams, coordinating across fundraising, communications, and program departments.
Here’s what you’ll bring:
- 6+ years of digital marketing experience, with at least 3 in a fundraising-focused nonprofit environment.
- Deep understanding of nonprofit supporter motivations, giving psychology, and engagement journeys.
- Proven success leading digital fundraising campaigns for multiple donor types (sustainers, mid-level, major, legacy, planned giving, prospects).
- Expertise in content development and campaign strategy with regards to Pillar/Tentpole Campaigns, and Ad hoc campaigns.
- Strong command of email marketing, paid media strategy, audience segmentation, and analytics.
- Experience with the following tools and platforms: Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Classy, Fundraise Up, Google Analytics/Tag Manager, Sprout Social, CRMs & CMSs.
- Outstanding communication and collaboration skills.
- Highly analytical mindset with a bias toward action and experimentation.

In Colorado, the salary range for this position is $100,000 - $120,000, plus bonus potential tied to individual and company performance, and is based on prior experience and qualifications.
