The Cloud & AI Platform (CAIP) team is a growing organization of Solution Specialists and Solution Engineers focused on strategic workloads and technologies, including GitHub, developer tools, application innovation, Azure AI, cloud-native development, DevOps, and application security.


As the Developer & GitHub Sales, Technical Enablement and Community Lead, you will work within our worldwide CAIP Commercial solution area and collaborate across GitHub, Microsoft engineering, sales, partner, marketing, and learning organizations. You will develop role-based sales and technical skilling strategies that equip sellers and technical teams to lead customer conversations spanning GitHub Copilot, GitHub Enterprise, GitHub Advanced Security, modern application development, DevOps, and AI-powered developer productivity. You will identify capability gaps, establish listening and measurement mechanisms, and build a global community that enables practitioners to share customer insights, reusable assets, and proven practices.

Responsibilities

Developer & GitHub Role Ownership and Skilling Strategy

  • Own role-success profiles, capability maps, and skilling requirements for Developer and GitHub Solution Specialist and Solution Engineer roles, aligned to business priorities and customer scenarios.
  • Build and operationalize an annual, role-based skilling plan with clear learning paths, milestones, assessment criteria, adoption goals, and business-impact measures.
  • Owns the partnership with GitHub GTM and Enablement, operating across Microsoft and GitHub processes, stakeholders, and decision rights.

Sales and Technical Enablement Program Leadership

  • Develop and execute high-quality global sales and technical enablement programs across organizational boundaries, covering GitHub Copilot, GitHub Enterprise, GitHub Advanced Security, developer productivity, DevOps, cloud-native application development, and application modernization. Programs may be delivered live—in person or virtually—or on demand.
  • Apply a learner- and seller-centric approach to define role-based outcomes, audience segments, prerequisites, learning modalities, and practical application.
  • Use field signals, product roadmaps, customer needs, and performance data to identify, prioritize, and propose new readiness investments.
  • Design and operationalize an end-to-end learner journey that progresses from foundational knowledge to customer conversation, demonstration, technical validation, and solution deployment, with measurable links to seller productivity, pipeline, revenue, usage, and customer outcomes.
  • Collaborate with CAIP, GitHub, engineering, and partner enablement teams to develop integrated readiness plans for Microsoft field, partners, and customers.
  • Partner with MCAPS Academy and other learning organizations to reuse and scale established learning platforms, events, credentials, and readiness engines.
  • Lead continuous content improvement by combining learner feedback, facilitator insights, assessment results, usage data, and business-performance signals to refine content and delivery.

Readiness Planning

  • Collaborate with GitHub, Microsoft engineering, product marketing, finance, partner, and field sales teams to translate business priorities and product roadmaps into a cohesive readiness plan.
  • Develop sales and technical skilling plans that include customer value propositions, competitive positioning, licensing and commercial guidance, technical architecture, demonstrations, hands-on labs, proof-of-value patterns, and advanced workshops with product and engineering teams.
  • Advise senior leadership as a domain expert on developer platform capability, field readiness, investment priorities, and execution risks.
  • Influence across GitHub and Microsoft organizations to secure subject-matter expertise, delivery capacity, communications support, and leadership sponsorship.

Onboarding

  • Design and execute a role-based onboarding journey for new Developer and GitHub Solution Specialists and Solution Engineers, including core platform knowledge, customer scenarios, sales plays, technical depth, and field application.
  • Partner closely with MCAPS Academy, GitHub, and regional readiness teams to scale onboarding globally and curate assets for both onboarding and continuous everboarding.
    Landing
  • Collaborate with launch and landing leads to coordinate readiness for product releases, sales plays, campaigns, and strategic priorities, ensuring timely field communication, seller capability building, and consistent execution.
  • Establish launch criteria, adoption measures, feedback loops, and remediation plans; adjust execution based on field signals and business outcomes.
  • Co-develops product launch assets and enablement with GitHub Enablement so Microsoft and GitHub sellers land one consistent message.

Community Management

  • Develop and lead a global Developer and GitHub field community that connects specialists, engineers, product teams, and enablement stakeholders to accelerate practitioner success.
  • Create scalable mechanisms for knowledge sharing, reusable asset discovery, technical office hours, customer-story exchange, feedback collection, and open dialogue.
  • Use community signals, listening systems, business reviews, support themes, assessments, and program data to identify capability gaps and emerging needs.
  • Synthesize qualitative and quantitative findings into clear insights and recommendations, using executive presence to influence decisions and proactively drive solutions.
  • Define and exceed success measures for reach, completion, capability attainment, community engagement, content reuse, seller confidence, and business impact; use feedback and data for continuous improvement.

Qualifications

Required: 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Finance, Engineering, or related field AND 4+ years experience in business consulting, sales, sales operations, information technology (IT), account management, business development, marketing, IT field sales, or a related field OR equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years experience in in Near Term Strategy (1-2 years out), Management Consulting, or Finance.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Computer Science, or related field AND 6+ years of marketing, strategy, sales, program management, project management, business planning, consulting, finance, economics, and/or partner organization experience OR equivalent experience.

Sales Strategy Enablement IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $106,400 - $203,600 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $137,600 - $222,600 per year.
