The core hours for this position are Monday- Friday 9:00 am to 6:00 pm and travel to colocation facilities in the Chicagoland area is required.

Your Core Responsibilities:
- Oversee the lifecycle of physical servers, network devices, and other IT infrastructure components
- Perform installation, configuration, and upkeep of server and network components in our data centers
- Plan and implement efficient rack layouts, cabling schemes, and patching schedules to optimize data center operations
- Diagnose hardware issues, coordinate with vendors for repairs or replacements (RMA process), and ensure timely resolution
- Handle incoming and outgoing shipments, maintain accurate hardware inventory, and manage stock levels of IT components
- Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation of physical infrastructure, cabling layouts, rack configurations, and associated processes
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with hardware vendors, colocation partners, and remote hands teams to ensure efficient operations
- Maintain office IT infrastructure, including hardware and network systems
Your Skills and Experience:
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in data center engineering
- Strong understanding of server hardware, network devices, and data storage systems
- Knowledge of network cabling, fiber optics, and optical transceivers
- Experience with fiber optic testing and cleaning is required
- Basic knowledge of Linux operating systems and networking protocols
- CCNA certification is a plus
- Proven experience in racking, cabling, and working with data center facilities management tools (power, cooling, etc.)
- Familiarity with basic scripting in Bash and Python within a Linux environment is a plus
- Strong ability to manage time effectively, prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment, and adapt to changing requirements
- A collaborative mindset, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team, often with minimal supervision
- Ability to safely lift and move equipment weighing up to 60 pounds
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required
- A valid driver's license is required for travel between facilities
