ABOUT THE ROLE
The Senior System Administrator manages and maintains Nooks’ IT systems and infrastructure to ensure reliability, security, and performance. As a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for classified networks, you will design solutions, troubleshoot complex problems, and support Nooks’ CIaaS mission. You will collaborate closely with cybersecurity staff to implement compliance-related technical tasks, security best practices, and oversight of classified ATOs.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Administer Windows and Linux servers, VMware, network services, and storage systems.
- Provide SME-level support, resolving complex hardware, software, and network issues.
- Design, implement, and integrate new system technologies into cleared ATO environments.
- Monitor backups, patching, updates, and configuration changes to maintain system security and integrity.
- Implement and maintain security controls in accordance with RMF, NIST, and DoD standards.
- Collaborate with cybersecurity staff to meet assessment, accreditation, and audit requirements.
Support DevSecOps platforms and toolchains including Kubernetes, GitLab Ultimate, Nexus artifact management (PyPI, Maven, NPM, Docker), Keycloak identity management, and SonarQube code analysis. - Design, plan, and execute IT infrastructure projects, including upgrades, deployments, and integrations.
- Maintain accurate documentation of configurations, administrative changes, incidents, and resolutions.
THE SKILLSET:
- Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 10+ years of system administration experience, preferably in DoD classified environments.
- Expert Linux administration, networking fundamentals, and complex troubleshooting.
- Strong Windows administration skills in mixed OS environments.
- Experience with virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V) and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) preferred.
- Ability to independently solve problems and work collaboratively.
- Experience designing and architecting IT solutions for classified network ATOs.
- Meet DoDM 8140.03 certification requirements (Security+ or higher).
ELIGIBILITY + CLEARANCE
U.S. citizenship is required.
Top Secret (TS) security clearance with eligibility for Secret Compartmented Information (SCI).
