The Lead Developer will serve as a technical leader, overseeing development best practices, mentoring developers, and ensuring scalable, secure, and compliant ServiceNow implementations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design, development, and configuration of ServiceNow modules (ITSM, ITOM, CMDB/Asset, or others as applicable).
- Translate business requirements into technical solutions using ServiceNow best practices.
- Develop and maintain ServiceNow workflows, business rules, UI policies, client scripts, and integrations.
- Provide technical leadership to a team of ServiceNow developers, ensuring high-quality code and adherence to governance standards.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define technical roadmaps and recommend ServiceNow capabilities that align with business needs.
- Lead integration efforts between ServiceNow and third-party systems using APIs, MID servers, and integration tools.
- Ensure platform stability, performance, and security by following ServiceNow development standards and industry best practices.
- Manage code promotion across environments using update sets, application repositories, or DevOps pipelines.
- Mentor junior developers and provide technical guidance, code reviews, and training.
- Help develop, implement and maintain testing procedures for developers.
- Stay updated on new ServiceNow releases, features, and industry trends.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5+ years of hands-on ServiceNow development experience with multiple implementations.
- Proven experience as a lead developer or technical lead on ServiceNow projects.
- Strong knowledge of ServiceNow core modules: Incident, Problem, Change, CMDB, Knowledge, Service Catalog, Request Fulfillment, Discovery, etc.
- Experience with ITOM, integrations, automations, Service Graph and CSDM.
- Proficiency in JavaScript, Glide API, REST/SOAP integrations, HTML/CSS, and AngularJS.
- Familiarity with ServiceNow Flow Designer, Integration Hub, and Scoped Applications.
- Knowledge of ServiceNow best practices, security models, and performance optimization techniques.
- ServiceNow certifications strongly preferred:
- Certified System Administrator (CSA)
- Certified Application Developer (CAD)
- ITSM, ITOM, or other product-specific certifications
- Strong leadership, communication, and collaboration skills.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with Agile/Scrum delivery methodologies.
- Familiarity with DevOps pipelines and automated testing in ServiceNow (ATF, Jenkins, Git).
- Knowledge of ITIL/ITSM processes and frameworks.
- Ability to interact with senior leadership and business stakeholders to provide technical guidance.
