Overview

The Cost Accountant is responsible for all aspects of the manufacturing cost accounting function, ensuring accurate product costing, meaningful analysis, and compliance with corporate and GAAP accounting requirements. This role requires a proactive, analytical problem solver who is comfortable driving process improvements, collaborating across departments, and providing clear, actionable recommendations to Senior Management. The position reports to the Finance Manager.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze and maintain standard costs (material, labor, and overhead), while ensuring accurate product costing and inventory valuation
  • Execute monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities, including cost roll‑ups, inventory reconciliations, journal entries, and P&L analysis
  • Learn and support cost management processes to ensure accurate and timely product cost and inventory information, in compliance with corporate reporting requirements, U.S. GAAP, and IDEX policies
  • Assist with the annual physical inventory process, ensuring integrity of procedures and results
  • Support inventory optimization efforts, including identifying excess/obsolete inventory, analyzing process drivers, and maintaining disposition policies
  • Assist with annual price book reviews and product margin analyses; support product line P&L reporting
  • Support manufacturing operations:
    • Monitor, review, and analyze daily manufacturing activities; provide meaningful, timely variance analyses and root‑cause insights
    • Partner with manufacturing to develop and implement efficiency and performance metrics
    • Review standards relative to current cost roll‑ups; ensure cost accuracy and support margin analysis
    • Evaluate BOM costing accuracy and resolve exceptions
    • Perform make‑versus‑buy analyses for components and assemblies
    • Participate in lean and productivity improvement initiatives
  • Perform ad hoc analysis and assist in creating/maintaining tools to communicate Financial, Commercial, and Operational metrics
  • Other ad hoc duties as assigned

Skills & Experience Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail
  • Demonstrates the highest standards of integrity and professionalism
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP accounting and general accounting concepts
  • Excellent communication skills and high confidence in stating professional opinions
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel
  • Demonstrated ability to streamline and automate complex processes

Additional Requirements

This position may require lawful access to information subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and Export Administration Regulations (EAR). Total Rewards

The compensation range for this position is $67,400.00 - $101,000.00, depending on experience. This position may be eligible for performance based bonus plan.
