Space is a warfighting domain. True Anomaly seeks those with the talent and ambition to build the technology that secures it.

OUR MISSION

True Anomaly delivers decisive capabilities for space superiority. We build autonomous spacecraft, advanced payloads, mission software, and space-based interceptors — enabling the U.S. and its Allies to secure the space environment and counter threats from the ultimate high ground.

OUR VALUES

  • Be the offset. We create asymmetric advantages with creativity and ingenuity.
  • What would it take? We challenge assumptions to deliver ambitious results.
  • It’s the people. Our team is our competitive advantage and we are better together.

YOUR MISSION

As the Senior Cost Accountant at True Anomaly, you will be a key contributor to the accuracy and integrity of program costs across the business. Sitting at the intersection of Finance, Operations, and Supply Chain, you will own the end-to-end process for non-labor program costs by ensuring they are complete, accurate, and flowing correctly through our systems. This role partners closely with business and finance stakeholders to build scalable cost accounting processes from the ground up, with strong ownership of the inventory process to drive process compliance with relevant stakeholders. We are looking for a reliable problem solver who wants to dig in, design the processes, and take full ownership of cost data within the general ledger. If you thrive in an environment where you can identify inefficiencies, build solutions, and operate with a high degree of autonomy, this role is for you.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Own all non-labor program costs across systems, ensuring completeness and accuracy at every stage
  • Partner with business and finance teams to track, validate, and report program costs throughout the project lifecycle
  • Perform cost variance analysis, identifying drivers of overruns and underruns and communicating findings to program and finance stakeholders
  • Support the development and maintenance of project budgets, EACs (Estimates at Completion), and cost forecasts
  • Own the inventory accounting process end to end, ensuring accuracy and compliance across supply chain and operations
  • Establish and enforce inventory controls and reconciliation procedures in partnership with Supply Chain, Operations, and Program Management
  • Ensure proper accounting treatment for raw materials, WIP, and finished goods in accordance with GAAP and company policy
  • Design, document, and implement scalable cost accounting processes and internal controls across programs and facilities
  • Identify opportunities to streamline cost flows across systems and lead initiatives to improve efficiency and reduce close cycle time
  • Support monthly financial statements, program level reporting, and the annual audit
  • Support accounting in accordance with CAS for covered contracts, including FAR compliance and DCAA audit readiness
  • Serve as a liaison between accounting and cross functional teams, providing guidance on cost related financial matters
  • Other tasks as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting or Finance; 5+ years of relevant accounting experience, with a focus on project, cost, or program accounting
  • CPA or CMA a plus
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, with experience in cost accounting principles and project based cost structures
  • Demonstrated experience owning inventory accounting processes and working cross functionally with supply chain and operations
  • Experience with government contract accounting, FAR/CAS standards, and DCAA compliance is a plus
  • Previous Aerospace and Defense experience a plus
  • Analytical mindset with exceptional problem solving skills, high degree of ownership, and strong attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills. Able to convey cost and financial information clearly to nonfinancial stakeholders including program managers and operations leaders
  • Prior NetSuite experience preferred

OTHER

  • Work Location: This position will be onsite 4 to 5 days per week, with openings available at our Long Beach, CA facility or our Colorado location.

COMPENSATION

  • Base Salary:
    • California: $90,000-$130,000
    • Colorado: $85,000-$120,000
  • Equity + Benefits including Health, Dental, Vision, HRA/HSA options, PTO and paid holidays, 401K, Parental Leave

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education and experience.

To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
