THE OPPORTUNITY

The Controller combines strong accounting expertise with operational insight, systems thinking, and executive leadership capability. Additionally, serves as a key member of the leadership team and helps to drive profitability, accountability, cash flow discipline, and scalable growth.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

• Managing the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the Accounting/Finance Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the company policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, planning, assigning, directing work, rewarding, disciplining employees, performance reviews and addressing complaints and resolving problems.

• Managing the accuracy and productivity of day-to-day activities of accounts payable, cash disbursements, invoicing/billing, customer credits and collections, payroll, perpetual inventory integrity, fixed asset records, general & entity accounting, cost accounting.

• Overseeing the quarter and year-end payroll closing including federal and state reports. Income tax reporting and provided to CPA. Working with CPA to prepare Federal and State income tax reports for shareholders.

• Developing, improving and issuing timely monthly financial reports.

• Preparing financial budgets and assuring financial plans are consistent with organizational goals.

• Providing financial analysis tools to evaluate company operations or special projects, programs, capital expenditures, products costing, etc.

• Interfacing with outside banks and lessors, insurance company(s), credit card companies, collection agencies, CPA and attorney(s).

• Participating with the management team to help develop Vision goals.

• Improving processes and policies in support of organizational goals. Formulating and implementing departmental and organizational policies and procedures to maximize output. Monitoring adherence to rules, regulations, and procedures.

• Assuring all departments job descriptions are complete and reviewed as needed.

• Overseeing IT operations and software evaluation and implementation.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO OUR ORGANIZATION

• Degree (BS or BA) in accounting. Ten or more years’ equivalent experience. CPA preferred.

• Knowledge and understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.

• Knowledge and experience with accounting for and reporting job costs, costs in excess of billings, billings in excess of costs, revenue and cost of sales, using the percent complete method of accounting.

• Detailed knowledge and experience with payroll rules and regulations and compliance with all reporting requirements including the Affordable Care Act.

• Experience with the installation of policies and procedures and systems to streamline workflow and improve timeliness of reporting.

• Experience and capability of supervising an accounting department of a staff of four or more, to include periodic reviews.

• Strong skills in understanding excel, crystal reports and other reporting tools.

• Experience and capability in managing the income tax planning and compliance of the company and related entities in conjunction with the outside accounting firm.

• Experience in cash flow planning, capital equipment tracking and planning.

• Effective and persuasive presentation skills on controversial or complex topics to top management, public groups and/or board of directors.

• Knowledge and experience in organizational effectiveness and operations management.

• Knowledge of business and management principles and practices.

WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Work is primarily performed in an office setting. May work some unusual hours according to business needs.

• While performing the duties of this job, you will be regularly required to reach with hands and arms and frequently required to stand; talk or hear; walk; and use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls.

• You will occasionally be required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

• You may at times lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

• There are specific vision abilities required by this job which include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
